There wouldn't be much value in trying to trade a Euro at Christmas since every team would already have two. And while he may have put up decent points when he played he had lots of injury issues, some selfish play, and IMO (no evidence just a feeling) seems to have given up on his team at times. I also assume there is another Euro on the way to fill some of the scoring void. Well our return on Cajkovic was nothing impressive. Even if no real trade partner could be found at Xmas (or whenever the trade period ends up being, if at all) it might have been worthwhile to keep him for the entire season. Like I said....its a league typically dominated by 19-20 year old players, and we're expecting a bunch of 16-18 year olds to carry the offense, with some of the key contributors not even having played a game in the Q (Reynolds, MacDonald). There will be struggles. We could use a veteran offensive threat to help get the team through those. If the team is going to be as good as a lot of Kool Aid chuggers seem to think it is going to be, Cajkovic won't have to "give up on his team at times". Also if we're going to list things like injury issues and such umm...we better ditch our only other veteran offensive threat in A. MacDonald because lord knows he's had past issues, right? Anyway it's just my opinion. If TG has a line on 2 very good euros he thinks he can get this year, great. If he's only picking one euro though I'd have rather kept a top 3-6 forward in Cajkovic over a bottom pairing defenseman in Lehmus. A bottom pairing D can easily be acquired, and cheaply. A top line forward is much more difficult to acquire, and far more expensive.

Yeah I think we'll have to see what the import draft brings to really know if it was a good trade or not. I'm also hearing that the picks are conditional so the trade could get better or worse depending on what that's all about, assuming it is even accurate.

Trading Cajkovic means that another non- 19 or 20 can play top 6 (even if it is a new import).

I think trading Cajkovic helps in 3 ways: 1) Obviously you free up a new euro spot to be able to draft 1 this year. but you also get a 17 YO that will be apart of the 3 year run. 2) You have more depth than expected. You free up minutes for your new additons Reynolds and MacDonald + others 3) Cajkovic seemed to wear out his time in SJ. nobody should be better than the team and it seemed everyone has gotten that impression from him. You don't want a veteran around that prevents cohesiveness and synergy to the team. i'm not sure the A. MacDonald/Cajkovic comparisons are fair. Its an apples and oranges comparison really. two completely different situations. Lastly, I like chugging kool-aid and this team is going to break records. The year they do it Cajkovic wouldnt be able to help them anyways.

With everything going on in the world it doesn’t hurt to own his rights though

The way the States are handling this Covid-19 virus, he will be fortunate to be able to cross the border in time for a hockey season.

Probably one of the many ways they've mishandled the virus. He'd likely need to isolate any time he came back though.

He can fly from Canada to the US today if he wants and not even need to isolate in most places. And as a Canadian he can come back later today on another flight with an expectation to isolate for 14 days.

Never would have thought in 2020 everything could be so turned upside down by a little strand of RNA.

I'm sure he may not be able to fly into the US at any time but I doubt he'd be unable to return to Canada if he did go to the US before a 2nd wave.
