Sadly beginning to wonder if some of these players are just poor defensive players. Way too many get beat 1 on 1. It is like most of them played thru minor hockey always having the puck and never cared about play without it. Now are they uncapable or unwilling to learn? Not sure if Poirier (and Villeneuve for that matter) CAN’T play defence, or if they simply choose not to. Seeing them out of position due to offensive rushing is really getting difficult to watch.

Or being out muscled... Poirier got out muscled by a 16 year old Moosehead player which led directly to the first goal of the hockey game. That is unacceptable.

I wonder which one will happen first.
Gilbert healthy scratches a certain defensemen. Gilbert can actually get this defensemen to commit to playing defense. Gilbert moves a certain defenseman to forward. Georgie gives up on a certain defensemen and moves him.
Or none of the above!

I laugh when announcers refer to our overtime unit as two forwards and a defenceman when Poirier is the so-called defenceman.
PS minus three simply isn't good enough
PPS in his "defence" the system seems to be push forward by all d-men

Hopefully Kotkov will show up soon and Jones can find his game. We cant have a 20 year old goalie with a 4.32 GAA and an 852 save %. Leonard is what he is. Not going to bring much offense. Management has set to high of expectations on this group for this year. We have 3 16 year olds 4 17 year olds and 8 18 year olds. That's not a recipe for success. I am sure Reynolds and Macdonald will get alot better and start producing more as the season goes on. If it keeps up, maybe they end up with Gravel after all.

I personally don’t think goaltending is our problem. We need defencemen who will play defence.

At this point I'm not sure his defensive game is going to get much better, maybe if a new defence coach is hired but I stopped holding my breath for that to happen a while ago. My preference would be to move him to forward. We could use a bit more size and scoring up front and have some decent depth on D. We often dress 11 F and 7 D anyway. He could always drop back now and then if necessary due to injuries and could still play the point on the power play. I'd definitely prefer that over trading him and status quo hasn't been working too well so far.

No gurantee it's Gravel Halifax is trading we have 4, 20's currently but it could be McLaren; Plus Gravel needs time to get in game shape after his quarantine is done on Saturday.
