charlottetownislanders.com/article/wednesday-update Following the announcement this morning that Prince Edward Island will temporarily be closing it’s borders to non-essential travel, the Charlottetown Islanders and the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League has received exemption from the province to continue playing regular season games during the upcoming two weeks.

Absolutely disgraceful that the Charlottetown Islanders would continue to play games. There is a reason that non-essential travel is being stopped and that is to protect all Islanders, not to mention hockey is definitely not essential!

Why blame the team??

I can’t wait to read the FB comments once the media outlets post this news.
Easy decision would’ve been to shut it down, but the teams coming in are only gonna get to the rink, play the game and leave the island with minimal interaction with anyone, other than the Islander players. As long as they’re being tested (which they obviously are if they caught the two employees from SJ, HFX), everything should be fine.

Im not saying its a smart decision......my point was that the decision to keep the games operating was made by both Premier King and Dr.Morrison. If there is blame to be layed, point the finger at them...they made the decision. That's how I look at it anyhow

Looks good on them .... both
We are either in this together or we arent
And the government cant just tell everyone their lives are on hold then turn around and allow foolish exemptions without backlash
Hopefully the comments from the citizens of pei who are trying their damndest to keep covid at bay and have a somewhat normal christmas got thru to them but how cowardly to simply delete your tweet as opposed to announcing the change

Team was granted exemption and than King went back on his word and told them no. But that’s no surprise he’s not qualified to be a premier obviously that’s my own opinion but I can’t wait to see him and some of his arrogant cabinet members shown the door next election.

They could only play 3 games in 2 weeks if they had an exemption
