I can’t wait to read the FB comments once the media outlets post this news. Easy decision would’ve been to shut it down, but the teams coming in are only gonna get to the rink, play the game and leave the island with minimal interaction with anyone, other than the Islander players. As long as they’re being tested (which they obviously are if they caught the two employees from SJ, HFX), everything should be fine. The only obvious thing is that people tested positive. Has anything been released or put out there by the league about their own testing protocols? It would be rather easy to put that out there if it existed one would think but the league has not exactly been forthcoming with information about anything covid related. Are the the positive cases in the Maritimes all coming from community spread and people being testing by local health authorities? Or being caught by the Q testing all team individuals at their own expense? Surely someone here is close enough to a team to know this information.

PR spin machine in effect It's really unreal how tone deaf everyone is coming across with this. Do governments think there's some massive fan uprising coming if games are cancelled? I just don't get the thinking from either side here. By this point in the Spring we were already shut down. Not trying to give loopholes to groups of 25-30 people to start crossing borders to play a sport.

At $200 a test, I highly doubt that Q teams in the Maritimes are getting frequent testing as much as some posters on here would like to think. It was reported yesterday that the teams in the Q bubble have already racked up 200K in testing costs in the short time they've been there. It would seem far more likely that the cases involving staff members were identified simply through the normal testing process after experiencing symptoms. If teams were being frequently tested we would have heard about it by now because they would be quite proud to boast those types of protocols.

The league has been all talk these last few months. But as much as they think people are idiots...it's definitely not going unnoticed if you read all of this thread: "Official press release daily" is what the league committed itself to delivering after the first outbreak within a team. Needless to say that hasn't happened.

PR spin machine from the team or from the government do you mean? PR spin machine in effect Team in this case Thinking anybody is buying that they applied for an exemption and received it .... then an hour or so later had second thoughts is bullshit But people will buy it and praise them now for this decision The backlash from the public coupled with the possible exposure from the funeral home is far more likely the case here.... the team would gladly be playing tomorrow make no mistake about that
