Rough start for the boys.. they haven’t played well in front of Goobie this season.

Islanders aren’t the same team when Ellis isn’t in net.

sounds like we really didn't show up to play
disappointing but not totally unexpected with the debuts of new players finally
hard luck for Goobie tho..... at some point we need to see some progression from him or we will be needing to find a goalie again next year

Ellis is 11-0-0 with a 2.00 GAA and a .923 save percentage.
Goobie is 3-3-0 with a 3.36 GAA and a .868 save percentage.
It's been hard luck. The team hasn't played nearly as well in front of him as compared to Ellis, who's been other-worldly most nights. The save percentage is low but is unfortunately close to the numbers he put up in 17 games last season behind Matt Welsh (.876).
Developing goaltenders is tough. Goobie has been in a tough spot at 16 and 17 playing behind studs like Welsh and Ellis. Adding a further layer of complication to the issue is the fact that there's been fewer options to get into game action with the abbreviated schedule this year.
Goobie needs playing time so we can see what we have and for him to increase his level of comfort in the league. But Ellis was brought in to play the lion's share of the games. It's a tough one to sort out.
