Thoughts on tonights game? I thought the cats started out very slow, but in the third the sea dogs let off the gas and Moncton was right there and made it interesting. Penalties at the end costed us the game though.

Appears Barbashev may be a solid add ... Yup ... he just has to turn it down a notch and stop taking penalties. He reminds me of Khovanov in that its easy to push his buttons to get him to react. Of course he wants to stand up for himself, but he has to pick his time and place. Those calls in OT were somewhat soft but they were penalties. The trip (Iasenza) was a clear trip, but the Barbashev slash seemed weak. |

I like Barbashev, I think he will be more of a complimentary offensive player than a guy who drives a line, he does seem to have good instincts to get to where the puck will be. His size and decent speed plus playing with an edge are his biggest assets. He reminds me of Yannick Veilleux in terms of former WC players.

I agree, the trip was a legit penalty, the one on Barbashev was a joke, especially the fact that one of the WC players was cross checked into his goalie at the same time. |

Penalties at the end costed us the game though. I thought they looked a lot better than Thursday. Obviously the defense is painful at times and no gamebreakers up front so structure and effort are essential. DLC had a much better game. With NB only games, there are no freebies, SJ looks like they are playing closer to potential and Bathurst is a good team, the 2 other weakest maritime teams are playing vs Cha and each other. |

I was also impressed with Barbashev. I believe he will develop into quite the player. I like his physical side style of play, especially when he reversed checked on of the S.J players while dumping the puck in. He added some well needed energy to the team.
