The Saint John Sea Dogs try to win their 4th game in a row in 2021 against the Moncton Wildcats tonight at TD Station. The Dogs beat the Cats on Saturday Night in Moncton in OT.
Will the top line of Kotkov, Francis and Reynolds keep up their hotplay? Will Patendeau start again in net?
Enjoy the game.
Go Sea Dogs Go!!!

3-2 Cats after 2. Seadogs dictating the play for long stretches. Savoie has taken Lawrence’s spot between Burns and Girouard, not sure if Lawrence is hurt?

Unforced giveaways are happening far too often. They are often their own worst enemies.

Villeneuve was just terrible, turnover after turnover. Where was Desroches?

The shots seemed pretty 1-sided after 2 but that was hardly indicative of the play. The Sea Dogs appeared dominant for a few stretches and other times couldn't complete a pass or break out of their own zone without turning it over every chance they got. Not sure what it will take for them to start showing the Wildcats more respect. I guess they were a little too proud of themselves after starting the 2nd half 3-0.

28 shots the first two periods and only 3 so far in the 3rd with less than 3 minutes to go.

It was pretty quiet around here after starting the 2nd half 3-0, but nothing like a poor effort to get some activity going on this board. 🙂

I was wondering why Desroches wasn't playing. Station Nation says he was a healthy scratch. I'm glad to see he's not injured but I wonder why. Maybe the coach is as guilty as the players for underestimating the Wildcats. They really could have used him tonight.

Once again, the Dogs actually make their opponents look good. Is it underestimating their opponent or overestimating their own abilities?

Once again, the Dogs actually make their opponents look good. Is it underestimating their opponent or overestimating their own abilities? The defense looks incredibly soft, lots of mental mistakes but above and beyond that, nobody's actually battling. Those 2 goals the Wildcats got standing almost in the blue paint can't be allowed to happen, everyone is watching the puck and nobody ties up the stick of the guy in front. Team defense looks rough too, you have 3-4 guys taking up off up the ice offensively and then a turnover in behind, you're going to give up goals more often than not. It was a really sloppy performance and while the Wildcats deserve credit for capitalizing on their chances, the Sea Dogs should have never given up 6 goals. The previous 4 games were a better sign... overconfidence probably played a part tho.

Entertaining game today, but it's hard to believe this team is 5-1 since play started back up. Other than the top line and Emond, I don't think they are deserving of that record, mainly referring to the defensive play. I don't think I've ever seen so many combined shots in a game night after night as this year's Sea Dogs' games. Usually if you put up 51 shots in a game, it's because the ice is very tilted and the other team might get about 12 shots. But Moncton still got 29 of their own.

It was a very entertaining game and team defense is out the window for this group. We are very lucky that we are playing Moncton and Bathurst. If we were playing good sound teams like Charlottetown and some of the better teams from Quebec we would probably be 1 - 5. It really is not good that we are in year 4 of our rebuild and we are having such a hard time against Moncton. Nothing against them because they are a hard working group but after 4 years you would think we should be beating these guys handily. Edit: I guess it is technically only year 3 of the rebuild but it has been 4 years of weak or under achieving teams. I should also add that the boys did a great job coming back after going down 3 - 0.

Saint John Sea Dogs @sjseadogs · 1h Sea Dogs forward Liam Leonard has been suspended for two games alongside Moncton forward Jacob Stewart for a staged fight that occurred in the first period of Sunday's game.

Didn't see or hear the game but is it possible that they decided to focus a bit more on defense?
