Congratulations to Islanders athletic therapist Kevin Elliott!
charlottetownislanders.com/article/kevin-hcIt was announced today that Kevin will unfortunately be leaving the Islanders organization to assume a full time job with Hockey Canada as Manager of Medical Services.
It's great to see Kevin recognized with such a role, but it's sad to see him leaving the team. Kevin started with the Charlottetown major junior franchise back in 2003 and has been a mainstay ever since, thought I think he had a season or two where he worked in the NHL with the Florida Panthers in a similar role.
Kevin is one half of the "best in the business" team along with Spider MacNeill. Those of us who have been around for a long time know that Charlottetown is now a great place for a kid to come to play major junior hockey. We've got a great organization from ownership, to management, right through the organization, and that always hasn't been the case back in the days of the previous ownership.
I've always felt that the professionalism of Kevin and Spider has been a vital part of that transformation into a successful franchise. Every kid who comes into the dressing room is treated like a pro by this pair, and they're loved by those who have worn the Islanders and Rocket colours.
We know it hasn't always been easy for Kevin. His wife tragically and suddenly passed away at the end of the season a few years back. I'm sure his role the Islanders family was important and helpful during these difficult times.
Islanders fans wish Kevin all the best in his new role!
