"As COVID-19 cases around the Maritime provinces continue to climb, both New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island’s Chief Public Health Offices have agreed that it is in the best interest of all parties to limit non-essential travel between the two provinces. Therefore, the Maritimes Division Final between the Charlottetown Islanders and Acadie-Bathurst Titan will take place in Shawinigan, Quebec beginning this weekend. Details regarding the schedule will be announced by the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League later today.
For fans who have purchased playoff tickets: You will receive a full refund for your purchase. That refund will appear on your credit card statement within the next 48 hours."

Obviously the safest and most fair option. Very disappointing for our 20s who will be the only team in the maritimes it seems to not get a send off.

How do we think the Islanders stack up against Bathurst?
For all, I thought they were the most likely opponent to emerge out of Moncton, Saint John, and Bathurst. The Wildcats played well down the stretch, but they are very young. Saint John..... same story as last couple of years.... lots of talent, but they continue to struggle with inconsistent play.
But Bathurst has a really nice hockey team. Desgagnes is an elite talent with a lot of experience in the league. He and Cedric will be a formidable pair for the Ottawa GeeGees next season. They've got some impressive draft eligible forwards in Kidney and Huckins who play important roles. PEI native Bennett MacArthur has had a fantastic season for them. They brought him up from Jr. A last season half way through his 18 y/o season. Now suddenly at 19 he's a front line player who's put up 28 goals in 33 games. He's getting some buzz heading into the NHL draft. Bathurst has also done really well with some reclamation projects. They've got Ben Allison and Jaxon Bellamy, who have both bounced around a lot, playing well for them.
In goal, Chad Arsenault has a story to tell with the "revenge game" angle. The Islanders moved on from him... basically to give him a chance with the Titan this season. He's been a big part of the Titan success, especially as they waited to get European Jan Bednar here. I'm not sure who we'll see in game 1, but there's a decent chance we see both goalies in the series.
This has the possibility to be a very tight series.

I think Cha is stronger than Bat but it's likely closer than their records. SJ is stronger than either of CB and Halifax, so Bathurst has faced better opposition. I would say Cha in 4 or 5 games. I think Cha is better structured defensively and Bednar can be beat up high. I expect fairly(5-3 and 6-4) high scoring games.

The first game will be important, the Islanders need to get the rust and the kinks out right away. They can't afford to come out flat against the Titan. If they do come out flat, Ellis will have to be on his game. By the way, this series is being shown on Eastlink TV

having seen a handful of periods all year and none of Bathurst it's absolutely not possible for me to make any sort of prediction with an ounce of accuracy
i checked out of this season long ago... and barely ever checked into it honestly
i may watch Saturday if i remember too

Bathurst's greatest weakness is their Coach. Durocher is a good Coach when he has the best offensive team in the league, but he does not stress defense. Where Charlottetown is probably the best offensive team in this series, and perhaps in the Q (hard to say with their weak opponents this season) I think Durocher will be out of his element.

Though he isn't a great coach I wouldn't call him a weakness. They have a skilled team but young, defense is harder the younger you are. They have a lot of guys who are still developping(Hinkley Kidney Huckins Melanson Gaudet Biggar Allison(18 but missed a lot of time). They have really good vets, but not a lot of them(Desgagne McArthur Mccormick Bellamy Marcotte Chisholm). That's only 6 2000 and 2001 while Cha has 11 on their roster.
