The Islanders pulled off a huge win on Friday night and now have a chance to advance to the QMJHL final vs. Val-d'Or.
We've been in this position before, but under different circumstances. Jim, Guy, Thomas, and Brett were part of the 17-18 group that took Blainville to game 7 of the semi-finals before bowing out. Back then, we won game 6 and looked to have swung the momentum our way before Blainville played a textbook game in game 7 to eliminate us.
This year, we have Victoriaville where we want them. We get two cracks at this, but we definitely want to keep moving forward. There's a fantastic opportunity ahead for this great team.
When I think of the 17-18 team it was guys like Welsh, Pascal, Getson, PO, Hunter, Alexandrov, Clavelle, Desjardins, Hardie, Gentile who were the warriors who lead that team. This team is of a similar character and now Budgell and Casey play such an important role for us.
Game time is 4:00 PM.
