The protected list is kn the Isles site for the upcoming year I see we’ve added a former Sherbrooke draft pick who is a 03 Goalie Jordan Lambert now for a real interesting Add is they added Island born overage forward Josh MacDonald who is a SeaDogs draft pick not sure about this add. Don’t think he has much of a chance at making the team.

Lambert is probably just some Quebec based insurance in case we get caught up there with no option #3. Maybe we see him at camp auditioning for a job.
I'll make the guess that they added Josh MacDonald to the list this spring as a potential local guy they could add quickly in case of injury. We were only carrying 12 forwards all season. Our extra bodies were both blueliners. When we had injuries and/or made lineup changes we usually went with an 11/7 arrangement. A couple of injuries up front would have been a bad situation. I'm guessing MacDonald was just insurance in case of something like that. As you say, as a 2001 born player, he will be in a tough spot to crack the team if he even comes to camp in the summer.

Man oh man looking at the goalie list we will desperately need to add an experienced goalie if we want to make a run even as a split guy with Goobie.. we have the picks to make a big run this year. I see is acquiring a 19 year old goalie and a top 6 winger for sure.

Not expecting Josh to make the team, but wouldn’t be surprised at all if he did. He’s a quiet leader, but he does all the little things right. Would be a great spark on the 4th line that has some offensive capabilities.
Haven’t been able to watch many Caps games the last few years, but I’ve seen the stats for a lot of games where he leads the team in face offs, takeaways, etc.
I was able to watch him back in Bantam, where he was just as good or better than a Bennett MacArthur. Obviously Bennett is the better goal scorer, but Josh has the skill to make plays.

Hopefully Goobie stays and doesn't want a move like Lund-Cornish.

Lund Cornish was in a different situation Welsh was only a year older than him and everyone knew Welsh was the franchise goalie. Goobie is only 18 next year and it looks like it will be his net to lose.

Yeah you’re right, I was thinking he was only 19. Knowing that, it’s kind of a weird pick up then...but I guess it doesn’t hurt to have competition |

Again.... I expect they picked up his rights earlier in 2021 just to provide some insurance in case of injury. If we had 2-3 forwards go down in the same game, he would be in the same province... a phone call away.
But there's no reason to consider thinking he might be in the mix for a 20 y/o spot for next year. His inclusion on our protected list is for the purpose he would serve as an insurance 19 y/o forward during this past season.
