The CHL Euro draft goes tomorrow, June 30th.
There's some info provided in The Guardian today. Mostly, the article focuses on Brabenec and confirms he's in the plans to be part of the Islanders roster in 2021-22.
In the article, there is confirmation that CHL teams are permitted to draft two extra Euros this year due to complications that came out of COVID during last season. Brabenec and Matous Mensik are placed on a special protected list and the team can draft two more Euros.
Of course, teams can only sign two Euros, so it will be Brabenec and one more. There was some nice verbal on Mensik following the draft, but him not playing this past year sort of makes him less of a certainty. Looking at the Euro draft, it would also make sense if the Islanders looked at an older Euro goalie to tandem with Goobie this coming season.
We'll know more in the next few days.

Islanders select Oliver Satny, 2003 born Czech goaltender. Don’t seem to have as much confidence in Goobie as they mentioned

Looks like a young stud…wonder if they’ve had any conversations with him? I’d have to think we run with Brabanec and Statny though. Edit: looks like he’s signed to a KHL contract…guess it was just a swing for the fences type pick.

If there was any chance he would come to Jr he wouldn’t have made it out of top 10. This kid is being talked about fighting for first overall in 2023 NHL draft with Connor Bedard.

He would instantly become one of the best players in the league if he played (not on of the best rookies - best player overall)...but he isn't going to come to play CHL when he is going to be playing pro in the KHL. This was a "might as well swing for the fences and hope for a miracle" type pick. I wouldn't get too excited by this pick.

This is a out of the stadium swing. Like we’re talking let go for a 700 foot shot. Now don’t get me wrong I hope he comes because he will tare this league apart. We’re talking Crosby skill here.

Imagine if Hulton was actually able to get Michkov over here? Man thatd be awesome. He'd be a stud game 1

charlottetownislanders.com/article/islanders-select-g-satny-in-chl-import-draftThe Charlottetown Islanders and General Manager Jim Hulton made two selections at the 2021 CHL Import Draft on Wednesday afternoon. With the 52nd overall pick, the team selected Czech goaltender Oliver Satny. Satny stands at 6’1 and has most recently played for Mlada Bolesav Jr. “We’re very pleased to add Oliver to our team. He comes highly recommended from NHL sources after his performance at the recent World U18 Championship. Paul Drew did extensive research on Oliver as well and was very confident that he will be an excellent player in our league. We are excited to see a goalie tandem of Goobie & Satny” says Hulton. “I’m so proud and happy to have been drafted by Charlottetown. It has always been my dream to play in Canada and I hope it moves me to the next goal and that’s NHL” commented Satny via text message. “I am a dynamic type of goalkeeper with good skating. I don’t like to lose and I always do everything to help my team win. Islanders have a great team, so I’m just thinking about the top position and winning the President’s Cup.” In the second round, the Islanders selected Russian right-winger Matvey Michkov. Michkov played last season with Saint Petersburg SKA-1946 and registered 52 points (35 G and 17 A) in 50 games.

Stupid question…this is just me thinking out loud. IF there was ANY CHANCE this kid would play in the CHL but let’s say only for certain teams. Could you not dangle him in a trade? Maybe a good return? I know this is “what if” stuff, but just a thought. Trust me if we got this kid by SOME MIRACLE….game effin over for the rest of the league.

Charlottetown would have to buy out his 5 years contract from his KHL team. It's a $ 1,400,000 contract.
