Not sure whether anyone has noticed or not, but it looks like former Titan 4th liner Kristopher Schmidt has had a solid pre-season thus far with PEI. It looks like he was a walk-on with them in training camp.
Stats (not including tonight's game):
6 GP 6 G 1 A 7 pts. 4 PIM +2 rating 13 shots 10 Ds 6/10 faceoffs 6 GH and he even had a goal in the shootout in a loss to Halifax. I know it's only pre-season...but is this the same Kristopher Schmidt?? That's certainly not the kind of player he was in a Titan or Voltigeurs uniform.

Score has him pencilled on the 3rd line in PEI.... Latal-Morrison-Walker Kana-Doyle-Locke Schmidt-Lachaine-Cliche MacLean-DesRoches-Paynter Street No doubt that the Rocket has an offensive depth problem

Latal-Morrison-Walker Kana-Doyle-Locke Schmidt-Lachaine-Cliche MacLean-DesRoches-Paynter Street No doubt that the Rocket has an offensive depth problem I know you were kidding but just for the record PEI's big question coming into this season was offensive depth so it shouldn't be a surprise that some people are questioning why some players are pencilled in. Having said that Schmidt has really impressed so far in training camp and although it is only preseason if he continues his strong allaround play (not just his goal production) he looks like he could be a solid 3rd line forward maybe even get a shot at moving up. That is why fans are pencilling him in as a 3rd line player because his performance so far has earned it. But we have to see how things look when the season gets started. Just wondering how many Titan players have scored 6 or more goals so far in preseason ?

We also all thought in Titanland that Schmidt could be a ppg player in the season Do exhibition games become a new guideline to know what is a player potential? The Titan have witnessed many busts like that in years past and so far Schmidt busted out in Bathurst and Drummondville.

Maybe third team is the charm for him.
He looked good in our camp last season (IMO better than Jezegou) but when the regular season came on he kinda disappeared while Jezegou found his niche on our club.
It could have been that in pre-season he got more ice-time and was put in more offensive situations that suited his style more but once all the regulars were in the lineup didn't respond to 4th/3rd line ice-time duty. Also, the longer a player goes without scoring they seem to tighten their grip on then stick and not play as they should.

Well it's a better guideline than determining potential based on what a player looks like in street clothes.

Latal-Morrison-Walker Kana-Doyle-Locke Schmidt-Lachaine-Cliche MacLean-DesRoches-Paynter Street No doubt that the Rocket has an offensive depth problem FRom what I seen in camp, Schmidt is not a problem on the 3rd line. Will that change? Who know's. Unlike you, I don't see things in the future. From his camp performance (7pts in 6gms), he earned a spot on this team. Not the top two lines, and I see no use for him on our 4th line either.....so 3rd it is. If he does not continue to pan out.....who cares. It was/is worth a 12th rd pick. We have young kids who can step into that role, so no worries. As mentioned, I made that statement after seeing him at camp/pre-season games..............and not like you by seeing kids walk into the KC rink.

Show me where I inserted players on 3rd line watching them in street clothes in the KCI! You are getting tiresome with that remark! The Titan lineup was rather easy to make once we knew the final cuts.

I really don't know what this obsession is with making up lines. Could it be coach envy?

Latal-Morrison-Walker Kana-Doyle-Locke Schmidt-Lachaine-Cliche MacLean-DesRoches-Paynter Street No doubt that the Rocket has an offensive depth problem He was a 3rd, 4th liner here in Bathurst (when he played) and as Seahawk keenly pointed out...he didn't respond. I'm not sure what the situation was in Drummondville, but I can imagine it was much of the same. My question is...why would he respond any differently in PEI? He has a track record of doing this kind of thing (showing signs of breaking out during the pre-season and then disappearing when the season starts...last year anyway). I can see it would be awfully hard to justify cutting a guy who had 7 pts in 6 gms tho...even if it is only pre-season. Especially on a team that might be hard up for scoring depth this year. I guess we'll wait and see. But if he doesn't pan out...we told you so.
