Just curious. Should the Seadogs get someone local to do the full season instead of having guys all over the place doing games. Ie Kyle Moore in Sydney..nothing wrong with him just using him as an example.....should have 1 voice all year going into a Memorial Cup Hosting Year...just wanted to get peoples thoughts.

Teams seem to make this harder than it has to be. Media coverage is a necessity at this level. So as an organization hire a communications person to do the press releases, organize player requests, etc and also act as a radio guy for the season. One thing we can take away from all these years of experience of Q hockey is that the fans who do follow the team absolutely prefer a familiar voice (and face) to be representing that brand. And the investment in that person doesn't have to be a huge cost to the team considering the amount of media related things that can be thrown at organizations at this level. Especially for a team hosting the Memorial Cup.

As John Moore enters to Flight of the Valkyries to take over the Eagles pbp.

LOL I keep trying to get him to use “Cape Breton Eagles Hockey proudly presents Story Time With Pat McNeil Bay Bay” as a game intro. Just once. Preferably during a Sea Dogs game so I actually hear it.

Since Rogers cable 10 won't be airing games this season maybe they could bring in Arron Kennedy to do the games.

I'm pretty sure that's exactly what Tim was doing before he was let go. Not sure what the logic of that decision was. Coincidentally, the Sea Dogs recently had a job posting for a Manager of Marketing and Creative Services. It included a lot of content development responsibiltiies, but no radio or audio.

So looking for someone on the cheap...only reason I can think of to not include more game day duties. And look at it like this...once a puck is dropped would you rather that guy be in the booth as an extension of the teams marketing or in the rink talking to people who already paid for a ticket? Adding the radio/audio duties into that role just seems like a natural fit for me. So have to assume its a money thing.

I'm not sure the role they posted could easily add those duties since they are already looking for extensive graphic design and video experience, but it was a surprise they'd be looking for some skills while neglecting others.

They are trying to replace some of Jon Quinn (it's not really possible to replace everything he did)

The team replaced most of Tim's duties already (except the radio part where they went with the cost cutting method). He was a full time employee who realistically had part time work.

A lot of time and effort can go into producing a Q radio broadcast 68 times. If he was doing that plus communications and social media marketing for the team there would definitely be a full time job there through a hockey season. Its starting to be more about the webcasts than radio but having that home town familiar voice is a better experience for the fans who may listen more or in the webcast world buy more streams.
