The Islanders are back on ice for an afternoon contest vs. Val-d'Or today. Following the big offensive explosion last night, hopefully they saved a few goals for today!
Game time is 3:00 PM.

The boys go three or four games only scoring one goal, then put up 21 in three games this week. Hopefully they can find a happy medium and they should win a lot of games.
Patty Guay and Cormier are on fire after a bit of a slow start.
The PP has also looked better as of late which is a nice treat.

No coincedence that that 3 or 4 game scoring drought happened to be while Simoneau was out.

No coincedence that that 3 or 4 game scoring drought happened to be while Simoneau was out. It's not ideal to be a team that falls apart when missing one player...makes me wonder how bad it's going to be when cormier goes to the world junior camp (assuming he will get an invite, as he has for the past couple) and who knows who else.

You realize Simoneau was injured at the end of the second game of the 4?....so 2 of those losses were actually with him IN the lineup... also they beat Cape Breton without him and Budgell.

it's a funny game..... sometimes you just need one to get the confidence back..... the Cape Breton game started that
Simoneau is clearly the best offensive forward on the team but it's the fact that Guay and Cormier and Oliver and Boyd started to find the back of the net that turned things around
the bottom 6 still needs to be upgraded..... too many zeroes all around down there
and guys like Gallant (3rd year), Leblanc (3rd year) and Brabanec (first year but highly regarded) need to chip in a bit more

Only watched third period on line so it is hard to evaluate based on that source' however it looked like the Islanders were playing with a lot more grit strong forechecking creating turnovers resulting in more offensive opportunities
