So is this the futures in the Simmoneau deal and that deal is now complete? Seems weird to give up Oliver now doesn't it?

Certainly could’ve used Oliver to add a top 6

so final trade is To Charlottetown: Lapenna 3rd 7th to Drummondville: Goobie Oliver 3rd 4th don't love it personally but again i'll wait til we see the final result of everything that occurs over the trade period Oliver was likely always going to be moved as he is/was a valued trade chip much like Justin Gill was last year... when you don't have the picks to use you hafta use what you can to add what you need/want if Hulton acquires a top 6 forward and a veteran depth guy for the bottom 6.. Oliver was very expendable..... it's pretty likely that another roster player or two will be moved with the lack of picks we have at our disposal i'm not a fan of Stairs so I certainly hope we don't look there for the help.....

I was told during training camp that Hulton didn't feel comfortable with Goobie going forward.
Don't need to believe me, but you would if you knew who told me that information.
Good luck Goobie and Ollie.
Now to add a player to fill Ollie's roster spot.....preferably someone who can play on the 2nd line. (Stairs)

Lapenna is going to be the man obviously paying that much.. seems like a waste of a euro spot for a back up..

The Charlottetown Islanders have acquired goaltender Francesco Lapenna and a pair of draft picks from the Drummondville Voltigeurs. It was announced on Sunday morning by General Manager Jim Hulton.
In return, the Islanders have sent Jacob Goobie, Sam Oliver and a pair of 2024 draft picks to the Voltigeurs.
“We are very excited to add Francesco to our team. He is an elite veteran goalie with a proven track record” commented Hulton. “We would also like to thank Sam and Jake for their contributions to the Islanders. We wish them much success in the future.” 19-year-old Lapenna is a Laval, QC native and was selected in the 4th round, 57th overall by Val-d’Or in 2018. In 2021 he was invited to attend the Toronto Maple Leafs rookie camp. So far this season he has played in 21 games and boasts a .906 save percentage.

Lapenna is going to be the man obviously paying that much.. seems like a waste of a euro spot for a back up.. No reason they can’t go out and acquire a reasonably priced backup and deal Satny. Satny doesn’t fit in CB but you could look to upgrade with Ivan and find Satny a home.

No reason to deal to Satny at this point. Sure, we could add an impact euro up front but that’s more assets that we don’t have.
His value would be pretty low at the moment, just because he’s still pretty unknown.
Keep him to hold the fort down next year, build his value up and trade him at 19 where he could be one of the better goalies in the league.

Trading for a #1 goalie doesn't make any sense unless there's also a trade in the works for an import. Would make no sense IMO to add a #1 goalie and use up an import slot on a backup goalie, and there's no sense spending assets on a goaltender to be in a 1A/1B situation. Drummondville does have an open Euro slot, so if that Lapenna trade has steam, Satny could go back the other way. But I'm not sure they want to tie up an import slot on a goalie long term if Riley Mercer is their goalie of the future. Just seems off. Charlottetown needs forward depth more than goaltending. But if they can get a non-import goalie without giving up much, they could then go nab an impact import forward for relatively cheap, and have an overall improvement. Well this aged like milk. The fun part of commenting during an active trade period I suppose. Seems mean of Hulton to make the forward group weaker, then say "Merry Christmas!" and leave for a week... lol. I'm sure there's a top 6 forward coming in to help Charlottetown at some point.

There’s definitely needs to be another forward coming in Oliver was playing top 9 so I’m sure Hulton already has sights on someone.. too bad we couldn’t add a forward for free but looking at our protected list the only 2 that could be impact wold be Greene or Tardif and I’m pretty sure neither are coming.. I’ve been thinking that maybe Ouellette makes sense to a team like VD for one of their snipers

I know it's only day 1 of the trade period and I get bringing in a goalie but I honestly am still kind of shocked about Sam Oliver. I really saw him sticking around for at least this run.
There has to be something else coming in to replace him, but we do not have a lot to offer so who even knows. I'm sure there is a plan and Hulton does seem to know what he's doing. I should learn to have more trust maybe lol
