Congrats to Jakub Brabenec for being named to the preliminary roster for the world juniors with the Czech Republic
Not sure what that means timeline wise for us, but I think I read preliminary play starts on Dec 19th.
Also notable Q names: Jan Bednar, Ivan Ivan, and David Spacek.

Read on the french board that Brabenec is AHL. Thought it might have been one of those "Zadina" situations where he was on loan... Didn't realize he was 18 and NHL drafted before he played for Charlottetown.
One of those situations where you hope he does well, but if he does too well Vegas might have a spot in the pros for him as a 19yo next year.

I thought he could only go AHL if he was drafted by an NHL team before he was drafted by a CHL team. Brabanec was drafted in last years Euro draft, but Covid prevented him from playing here.

He was drafted by an NHL team before he “played” for a CHL team. The NHL has an agreement with the CHL for players drafted out of the CHL but he wasn’t drafted out of the CHL.

As much as that would suck for the Islanders, I'd be thrilled for him! Took him not too long to adjust here and he's been fantastic ever since. He deserves the chance if given to him.

Great for the kid, but shitty for the team.
In my honest opinion, I think he could definitely benefit from a year in the Q. I certainly take Simoneau on my team over him, and the Habs thought he would benefit more from playing in the Q rather than the A.
I guess each team is different though.
This would certainly throw a wrench in Hulton’s trade deadline plans..

Yah no issues this year. He'll be around and will be a strong member of a contenting top 6. Worst thing that could happen would be for him to go pro next year and for the Islanders not to have the opportunity to nab some draft picks by trading him to a contending team needing an impact import player... say... Halifax for example.

To be fair, I posted that on the French board and my comment was that there would be no way in hell Vegas allows him to play for Charlottetown next year if they sell Ouellet and Guay (because he'd have no support).
He is ahl eligible, but we don't know if Vegas would send him to another team if he was traded first.

Those same guys are also saying Hulton will quit at the end of this season because he doesn’t want to rebuild haha With all the praise that Hulton has been getting over the past few years - it does make you wonder how long it will be before the pros come calling with an offer he can't refuse.

Oh it wouldn’t surprise me but these guys are saying he will flat out quit because he won’t coach a rebuilding team which I think is a flat out joke.. also pretty disrespectful to Hulton

I don't think Vegas would pull him into the AHL unless he was ready to contribute at that level. But they'd have a little more pull than an NHL team would normally have with that option in play.
