I really don’t think you can really say anything about our announcers, when ours worked multiple years in the NHL vs the Bathurst announcer who can’t get simple names right that have been in the league for 5 years.
Also as far as homerism, Bathurst’s guy was pretty bad Sunday afternoon for it.

Not much room for you to talk. Your announcers been around for what...years now...and still doesn't know how to Noah Laaouan's name... And I mean...hell...how hard is it to say Michael (not Mikael) Horth?  Oh good someone else noticed it. Noah has been in the league for 5 years, on Maritime teams the whole time (meaning Bathurst has seen him a lot) and the guy still cannot say his name right. Drives me nuts. He also called Zach Roy "Ro-ee" as in the english way not the proper French way, which blew my mind because if you're a hockey person you should know how to pronounce it (ie Patrick Roy). Regardless I think all the play by play people make mistakes and realistically of course each teams home announcer has a bit of bias. Thank you. Your last sentence is an excellent point. |

No one yet commented on your announcers inability to say something as simple as Tigre nor their ability to pronounce Euro names. All announcers show bias. Shitting on announcers from other teams is showing bias to the extreme. |

Your announcers should practice pronouncing the names of the other team before the game. It’s not Teegra. The team has been in the league for decades. It’s pronounced Tig re. And on Gurionov he butchered it three times on the goal. It’s not Go ron ov. It’s Gu rion ov. It’s not Pre chi kov. It’s Prish che pov. The two of them must put on their Islander jersey before each game. The worst homer announcers in the Maritimes. But I’m sure they are doing a great job for Islander fans. Looks to me like you're shitting on another teams announcers... I like George Matthews as a person, but he leaves a lot to be desired as an announcer IMO.....and Corey is definitely a homer, but every announcer in this league is a homer...most of them are fans first.

Watching the replay, it looks like Jacques, the suspended player is doing some serious chirping to Keiran Gallant after they get the players separated.... and it is all within earshot of the referee, who is standing right there. The penalty call is for discriminatory taunts, gestures, and slurs.

I looked up Jacques, he's not very old, first year in the league. Not the best look for him. |

well not sure how we got to the announcers but i'm just thankful each team has someone to call the games. Doesn't really effect my enjoyment watching one way or another. I also don't care if they mispronounce a few names on teams we never see..... not a huge deal
but carry on
as for the penalty i had a friend ask me what happened and i had no idea of the call at all..... obviously something crossed a line and he got caught and penalized quite severely which he should be... it's beyond time to get the racism, homophobic slurs, anything deeply personal ouf of the game. Also if it was directed at KIeran good on him for not overreacting to whatever was said and getting himself in disciplinray trouble.
Anyone hear any updates on the injuries? would be nice to have as close to a full lineup as possible for tomorrow marquee matchup.

Radio announcers who are in some cases employed by the team and whose radio audience skews older are always going to provide a home team slant.
Their audience wants a home town broadcast so there will always be a bias there.

That's 2 players from the same team with that in one week. That sounds like a problem.
