The Islanders seemed to be really good at staying onside.
Somebody posted a few days ago that they now try to watch zone entry closely in case there is a video review - and now I find myself a bit more cognizant of that - not overly - but still - mindful of it.
Anyway - one of the Islanders' goals looked pretty close to being off-side. I would guess it was the right call - and I was glad they didn't go to a review.
The Islanders must work on that in practice - and it really gives them an edge to have a guy like Simoneau with the jump on the opponents' D as he crosses the blueline. It's hard not to like him with the style he plays - a nice combination of speed and edge.
It wasn't Simoneau who was on the goal I thought might have been close to off-side - just meaning to say that the Islanders probably don't just stand around a lot during practices. They attack with a purpose.
It's a good game when you're still talking about it a day later.
Jack Martin looks like he belongs. He's not handling the puck like a hand grenade - even against the league's best team. Cam Russell isn't going to trade him - I don't think.
Whoever mentioned Patrick Leblanc - he's the perfect example of somebody who can play up on the roster when needed - and then always dangerous when playing bottom six. He's very smooth.
I like the Islanders' chances at making the MC final. I could easily see an all-Maritime MC final - Islanders vs. Sea Dogs - and not at all meaning to diss the Titan, Quebec or anybody else.
