Hot off the heels of our win last night, we head into Shawinigan. Tonight's game will be a tougher matchup than what we faced last night.
Game time is 8:00 AST.

I've been following Shawinigan a bit and have noticed that Xavier Bourgault has not played at all since the return to play. I know he got the headshot in the world juniors, wonder if that's still the issue? That would be so unfortunate for a player who was really having a good year. Mavrik Bourque also did not play last night either.
I'm not confident with the way the Islanders have played as of late that they can pull this one out. I'd love to be wrong though.

Bourgault has been out long term...... not sure why.
He has not played since game action resumed last month.

Bourgault has been out long term...... not sure why. He has not played since game action resumed last month. Shawinigan has had tough luck with the injuries this season. Both Bourgault and Bourque are injured. Veillette, Beaudoin and Booth are also missing. Canonica played his first game in a month last night.

Islanders played well aside from all the penalties. Not mad at all about that game

Shawinigan only had 11 shots, that's some crazy good defensive work right there!
Obviously were missing some key players like Bourque and Bourgault but needless to say they played great on the back end of things.

11 shots for Shawinigan!? Wow that's incredibly low...anyone know what the record is for least amount of shots in a game? That must be close to it lol.

One of the best Junior Hockey games I have ever seen. Fast,Tough. Was like a great playoff game. Our boys had 44 hits. That must be close to a record.

That coward Simoneau (CHSB says he’s yellow won’t go in corners) lead the way with 7 hits!

One of the best Junior Hockey games I have ever seen. Fast,Tough. Was like a great playoff game. Our boys had 44 hits. That must be close to a record. I really like Simoneau. He has really nice speed and can play with an edge when he wants. I'd guess he'll be in the mix for league MVP. If not, and I'm not sure how they do it - he's had an MVP-like season. I think somebody scored the game wrong though comparing the game summary to the InStat numbers. They actually show Elliott with 8 hits on the game sheet and Simoneau with 7. It definitely was a physical game as both teams won 104 puck battles. Actual hits were 20-9 in the Islanders' favour. Five players led the way with 3 hits each (Simoneau; Elliott; Gallant; Cormier and Stairs). The 20 hits is the most I've seen by any one team in a game this season. The Islanders had 17 shot blocks which really tells a story as far as SOG (28-11 Islanders favour). Shawinigan had 5 shot blocks. Biakabutuka (sp) had an impressive 14 takeaways). He doesn't get a lot of mentions - maybe because his name is so hard to spell - but he seems to be a big part of that D. He seems to be very underrated. Even strength puck possession shows the Islanders with 18:58 and Shawinigan with 16:28. Olivier Nadeau led all players in TOI (29:02) which is incredible for a forward. Cormier (27:58) and Guay (26:49) led the Islanders. The Islanders are a force. My only complaint is that I haven't gotten to see them play enough. Back to Simoneau - he's my kind of player. He's exciting with a hell-bent-for-leather style. I know - I know - don't force the analytics on people - but a few people do like looking beneath the surface. The final 1-0 score is all that really matters in the bigger picture.
