I'm surprised that no one mentioned this before now. Hockey in Bathurst and surrounding area have lost a great supporter with the passing of Bernie White. I'm sure there are a great number of hockey players who have passed through minor hockey and were taken care of by Bernie and I'm sure he remembered every one of their names. It won't be the same coming into the rink and not seeing Bernie in his office.

Rest in peace Bernie!
My prayers and thoughts will be with your family......
You were a gentleman all the way, dedicated to the local youth....

Shit, that is sad news. I knew Bernie was battling cancer for a while and he had it tough.
With all due respect to any dedicated hockey volunteer, I don't think you will ever find one individual that was so devoted to not just the game, but the kids than Bernie was. We're talking about 30 years plus of involvement in Bathurst Minor Hockey. From early in the morning until the last player left the building... and probably after talking to some coaches and parents, and that took him into the wee hours.
30+ years at 300+ players per year. That is quite a number of people Bernie White saw, worked with and for. One would be hard pressed to find someone who had an impact on the game like he did.
Godbless, Bernie. You earned your ticket to heaven a long time ago...

Went to the Funeral Parlor this morning and 4 past Presidents of Minor Hockey were present....very emotional....with the family and friends. Bernie's family and Minor Hockey were part of his life and very often both were intertwined.
Nobody will replace him...it will take a whole comittee and a big bunch of volunteers...quite a man and very fond memories of the old barn for me.
