The Saint John Sea Dogs host Patrick Roy's Quebec Remparts this afternoon at TD Station. Another game I will be missing.
Both teams are hot at this moment - Sea Dogs have won five straight games while the Remparts are on 10-game winning streak.
Couture the start. Go Sea Dogs Go

2-1 Dogs after 2. PP goals for both teams. Lawrence gets one and both him and Dufour keep their home point streaks going.
On to the third!!

I didn't watch it - but looks like a good game by Riley Bezeau leading all players with a +2 and 7 hits. Edit: Holey Fukk - the Sea Dogs might not lose another game this year!

Edit: Holey Fukk - the Sea Dogs might not lose another game this year! Looking at our schedule it's quite possible

Good game lots of shots from the outside I would like to see Dwyer give Reynolds more ice time on the 2nd line with Lessard out I like trenholm but he is a bottom six guy he doesn't have the speed or hands to play with Francis and Daoust.

We begged him to come here for a year until he eventually came. Plays on our top line as a 17-year old rookie and looked great. Now at 18, he's used as a bottom 6 guy? I realize we loaded up with older guys at forward but he's still being way underused.

I realize we loaded up with older guys at forward but he's still being way underused. I think Reynolds has more or less just gotten unlucky this year in a weird way. Last year after the long winter/covid break he was playing top line minutes with Kotkov and Francis and performed quite well. Had a hat trick against Moncton in the final few games. I just looked the last 5 regular season games of that season he had: G - 5 A - 4 Last year in full GP G A P 33 15 16 31 This year GP G A P 49 11 18 29 I think it comes down to a few things. Him being in and out of the lineup through injury(or covid) doesn't help get a foothold in the team and get some extra opportunities. Then you look what's in front of him. You're not breaking up the Dufor, Lawrence, Burns line. He's not as good in the dot as Lawrence and Burns has that mercurial ability to just make something happen and spot a great pass nearly every game. Then the 2nd line. Daoust, Francis and Ansons. It's already criminal that Daoust isn't on the first line. You could make an argument that maybe Ansons hasn't performed above expectations, especially when playing for a quite horrid Drakkar team. Baie-Comeau Drakkar QMJHL 19 6 18 24 6 14 Saint John Sea Dogs QMJHL 29 8 18 26 12 8 All in all I think he got unlucky at the start of the year when we were desperate for more goals and ability. It felt like he was toiling a bit. And there's a chance he had covid and the effects of it has impacted this season, we don't know. But when our 2nd line for a while was Crete, Francis and Savoie and he was still on the 3rd line said a lot. I'm happy his still contributing and on this team. But I think 3rd line and some 2nd line appearances will be as high as it gets. ****from 1 unskilled, no hokey coaching experience persons opinion LOL*******

My shorter review on the game after that lengthy Reynolds piece.
Thought Quebec looked a bit leggy. Which is understandable after playing less than 24 hours ago and having a 4ish hour bus ride to Saint John before getting to their hotel. After watching highlights against Halifax felt like the whole team lost a few strides. Again, totally understandable.
Bolduc was dangerous and Gaucher was lively throughout the whole game. You can see why they are top in the conference. (However, how they are in the same conference as the maritime teams and only play them twice a season is a bit odd. I get the travel and such but if they're beating up on teams like Baie-Comeau 10 times a year feels like it's a lot easier than the bloodbath in the maritimes division.
Loved the rivalry with Bizeau and Crevier. Every chance he could he was gonna lay a hit on the 6ft8 defenseman. Dufor for the 3rd straight game was trying to take on 3-4 players at once. I think that 50 goal mark is in his head right now. With a FOUR more games against the Eagles I feel like he's got another 3 goals in him before the end of the season. I bet by Sunday night he's got the 50 mark.
Overall great game! Sidenote, I'm all for player recognition but I wish they could do it in the intermissions but I guess they want the photo opportunity with the families and everyones full attention.
The race for 3rd place is on. I'm not 100% sure who I'd rather play in the first round, Halifax or Rimouski.

I thought both teams looked tired at times. Couture played a really good game, especially in the 3rd when Quebec made a push. The glove save on Frenette was a huge one.

Couture has impressed me quite a lot! I never watched him too closely when he was playing for Moncton but his been a very capable backup where you don't notice much (if any) of a drop off between the two! Makes a big change from earlier this season when we had to play that call up goalie against the Drakkar and even better than having Jones last year.
