Believe it or not, game #68 is upon us. When you think back to the time the entire league was shut down in December/January, probably few of us expected we'd get to here.
2021-22 has been a memorable run for the Islanders. We have a chance to close out the regular season as the first place overall and the top playoff seed.... but in addition to picking up a win, we need some help to make that happen.
We have Bathurst coming in to town for the season finale. If we get the win and Rimouski is able to beat Quebec in regulation, then first place overall belongs to the Islanders. Any other combination results in Quebec as the top team in the regular season. Rimouski is playing with the hopes of leaping over Halifax in order to face Bathurst instead of Saint John in round 1.... but they need some help to. They'll be looking for Cape Breton to beat Halifax at home. There's lots still to be settled heading into the final day of the regular season.

Lapenna to start.... still no Elliott.... not a good sign with some playoff games coming up later this week.

Good thing is playoffs are 5 days away so hopefully one or both of Elliot and Big Ben are ready to rock. I am Gonna miss round 1 I am so gutted about this but going to Ontario to visit wife’s sister and family, be home for round 2 hopefully no upsets happen for us

I know Bathurst has far from their A team playing but this was the best Islanders period I’ve seen since maybe before Christmas.

Last game of the season I know doesn’t mean much for the Titan and most likely nothing for the Islanders unless Rim pulls an upset, but if the Isles play like they did in the first period they should be able to have a deep playoff run.
Titan missing some players as well, hopefully a solid week off will help with any lingering injuries. Be nice to see a Boyd and Elliot back in the line up.

6 assists in one game has to be a record here isn't it?
the line of Simoneau-Roy-Budgell was absolutely a force all afternoon long
i did feel bad for the fleming kid not sure if it was his first game or not but he had zero support and of the 10 goals that beat him i'd say he might have had a chance on 3

He did make some dandy saves as well. Some were really nice goals. If they can play like that going forward, look out. |

mentioned at the rink a couple times altho it's a stat i don't put a great deal of faith in it really does support my argument he is/was the best 2 way dman this franchise ever had and is a glowing recommendation for how to develop a prospect .... he got better each and every season here and i know it's recency bias and we have been rather fortunate in many years here with our overagers..... but i gotta say this trio has to be the best collective set of overagers we have seen no? |
