I take it that Cam Squires is pretty much untouchable I assume? 100% untouchable. C Squires was a top 3 16 year old forward in the league last season behind Cataford and Gauthier and I would argue that if Cam was on the Halifax or Sher, he could have easily challenged for the #1 spot. |

Well our play-by-play guy Patrick McNeil was on the Moncton Wildcast and talked about how our team president Gerard Shaw mapped out at a fan meeting how the organization is hoping the next couple seasons go with their idea of our contending season being when our 05's are in their 19-year old season. So guys like Squires,Patterson,Ouellet,Perron and Daigle are being looked at as our core internally so one would assume they're basically untouchable. |

One of the more interesting things to me in the acadie nouvelle article posted in the draft picks thread was that if we can't convince the guy we want 3rd Overall in the import draft to report we're open to the idea of having Ivan return as both a Euro and a Twenty which I don't think the Eagles have ever done before.

I still really hate the rule that you can't trade euro picks.
Trading down would be a great way to get an extra asset or two, but not even having that as an option is awful.

Have to say, this has been one of the more exciting off seasons for the team in recent years. If this is done right we may finally have that winning team. I still think the Covid canceled season we would have made some noise, but that’s in the past.
If they get Nemec the Euro D to report that is a massive add, as he is a top ranked D for the NHL draft. With a new GM and who knows what moves to be made, is there a chance the team who drafts him wants him in North America to be able to watch him closer? Who knows.
If Lavoie will report and he is who the team views as #1 then go for it. He has everything to be a potential top D in the league! Bring on the draft.

I forget what month it was but I remember reading an article saying the Eagles released their rights to Nemec in the CHL. Edit #1: I'm gonna look to see if I can find that article. Yeah actually we did do it before way back in 1999 with Artem Rybin . If my memory serves me correctly which it probably won't , he was a good player but maybe a notch below Ivan . I think Ivan may have some Money Making Opportunities though after making their National Junior Team for the WJC . |
