Oy this is a pick your poison kind of situation. Saint John, Bathurst, and Halifax have all beat us. Halifax certainly has. Yeesh now I don't know who I want to win They've all beaten us when we take the foot off the gas. Play a complete game and none of them should be too scary.

Sorry what was that about us basically being guaranteed Saint John? There were Remparts fans who didn't want to go for it this season because Quebec was going to play against the strong Maritimes teams in the first two rounds.

I've said since the day he was hired, Dwyer was not the right person to lead that team.
Beausoleil out coached him...
Dufour had 4pts in 5gp.....but was also a -5.
Dauost 3pts....was a -1
Francis 2pts
Lawrence 1pt
Burns 0pts
Reynolds 0pts

Best news for the Isles is the way these playoffs aligned. PEI farthest opponent in first 2 rounds might be Halifax. (Farther by road than Bathurst). Moncton was the closest city they could travel to.
It's a good scenario for Quebec to. Chicoutimi & now Rimouski. Will cut down the miles in the playoff.
Whomever the Maritime team is in round 3 it will not be road fatigued. Great for Charlottetown IMO. They have the best coach and ideal conditions.

That is a very, very good point. I really wanted first overall and the Sags in round 1 to avoid SJ in round two. 15-0 down the stretch is downright scary….and they pounded us the last meeting in the regular season. But travel to Moncton and Halifax/Bathurst is so easy. If we are fortunate enough to to make it to round 3, we will have very few travel miles accumulated by that point. Well…..they want to win the tourney. If they think he’s no good, then that is tough heading into the tourney. If that‘s the case, I could see them firing him now and bringing in someone else. It is 38 days until the tournament and they have time to make this unprecedented move. If Georgie was a guy with a background in coaching, I could see it being a case where the GM fired the coach and took over the reigns for the tournament. But Georgie’s background is in business. He likely does not have the bench management experience for such a move (it is like when Serge Savard would take a stint on the Rocket bench). Stella has a lot of sway in the organization. He is former coach, right? It would be a big move to put him on the bench in place of Dwyer for the tournament. I've said since the day he was hired, Dwyer was not the right person to lead that team. Firing your coach before the Memorial Cup has tons of precedent. Unless Dwyer is on a 1 year deal I can't see him being fired by the current owners. Eating multiple years and still needing a replacement that might not fit a rebuild like he may a week with a contender might be a tough sell.

Would it be a stretch to say the Islanders are now the odds on favorite to win the Presidents ?

Would it be a stretch to say the Islanders are now the odds on favorite to win the Presidents ? Quebec is a very strong team.... At least now that SJ won't be in the Q final, the two teams that make it will be playing with full force intensity. If SJ made the Q final, whoever they faced would automatically head to the Memorial Cup as well......no matter how the league final series went.

But , the way the standings were, it was very doubtful we could have met the dogs in that final. Did we not beat the Remparts both games this year?

Quebec beat Charlottetown 4-1 at home and then Charlottetown beat Quebec 4-0 in Quebec. Interesting to note that Charlottetown's 4-1 loss was in November before the trades and the 4-0 win was after.

The win up in Quebec was right after the pause…..before the Remparts really got rolling.
Sherbrooke looked very, very good when they beat us in here right before the playoffs. They are a well organized, disciplined team.
Roy, Parent, and Anctil are premier scorers and Hinds is a very savvy blueliner.
I think they are a team to pay attention to.
