With the Quebec win over Rimouski last night, we now know that we will face Sherbrooke in round 3.
Sherbrooke will be a very tough opponent. Both times the teams met the Phoenix got the better of the Islanders. I saw them in town in late April when they beat us 6-2. They are well coached and make very few mistakes. Parent and Roy are two major offensive producers in the league. They've got a lot of depth and their role players can be very effective on their 3rd and 4th lines.
It sounds like we will be without Todd (injury) for the series. While he really doesn't move the needle offensively, he was playing with an agitating presence on the 4th line, and he's a centreman. His contributions will be missed. There was an update on Leblanc earlier in the month that he was back on ice in a non-contact jersey. I doubt we see him this round, but hopefully he is continuing to make progress.
We will have to up our game to be ready for Sherbrooke. We caught Bathurst going through a rough patch that goes back into the later part of the regular season. They really weren't the strong, dominant squad that we witnessed in Feb/March. It's been a relatively easy pathway to the semis so far for the Islanders. I don't think we've even trailed at any point in any of the six playoff games to date. Sherbrooke will be a much tougher opponent.
Games 1 and 2 are next Wednesday and Thursday in Charlottetown.

Moncton led for about 7 minutes in game 2 of round 1 and that’s the only time they’ve trailed and the only series they allowed a 5 on 5 goal(3), theoretically bathurst scored 1 even strength goal but it was an own goal.

Would absolutely love for fans to show up for this team. They are performing and deserve to have a full house of fans.
I've said it before and I'll keep saying it: Island residents are awful at cheering on a team. The rink is often quiet unless there is large groups of kids around. Aside from 2 or 3 sections, no one cheers. The games would be so much better and much more fun if people in the stands participated. This team certainly deserves it.

Totally agree and we need more seats filled....playoff hockey with half the rink empty will not work in our home ice advantage!

A few factors has played in though.... The crowds around the Maritimes these playoffs have all been down. The games being broadcasted on Eastlink was also an option for fans...especially for those that are struggling to pay the cost of food and gas etc. But yes, would be amazing to see the crowds grow.

Oh I definitely feel the price of everything going up and it's hard for people to afford! My issue is mostly with the people that DO attend. It's so quiet at times, it's like people are afraid to cheer! Awhile back I got to experience going to the Titan's rink and while they had less attendance, the noise was incredible. if Islander fans were like that, you wouldn't even notice if the rink wasn't full.

A good DJ or host will get the people going. Sadly, Charlottetown has lacked in both departments for a long time. The in-game entertainment tomorrow night will also be the same as 10 years ago. In fact, I bet we can predict every song that will be played tomorrow night. As well, I am sure you can predict about 80-90% of what the host will say tomorrow night. The fans are not the problem here.

I consider myself one of the longest fans of this franchise... i bought my seat the day they announced we were getting a team and kept renewing it faithfully for 15 years..... i went on many road trips to watch games..... it was a great deal of fun and a great way to pass the winter
Having a child and then the added responsibility of essentially raising him myself for many years due to unforeseen circumstances in life changes priorities in a hurry..... watching him grow and compete in his sports is way more important to me and the cost of everything is just a real factor at play for a single parent.... and i have a decent paying job
I still watch the Isles when i can...... i still cheer for them and hope they finally win that elusive title this place deserves...... i'm just being a realist here
there is no simple answer as to why the rink doesn't sell out...... this is still just a game..... these are kids... very talented ones but still just kids..... it's not life and death. Just enjoy it and don't be so worried about what everyone else is doing with their time.
Go Isles Go

Go Isles Go I agree and understand the financials are an issue, especially now people need to carefully pick and choose what they decide to spend money on. All I'm saying is it would be nice if people could cheer and get loud, the people that do choose to go to the game.

I believe Sherbrooke is lined up to really “go for it” next year, but can you imagine if they kept Guay…especially if he’s back next year. Would be some great offence for sure..
