The Sherbrooke forum actually saying that it was a weak call hahaha. Punching someone in the face in front of the ref what more do you expect. lol there were hits in that game not called that the refs in the Maritime division would have called boarding. Maybe "in Sherbrooke" that is a weak call. Those fans would riot if they had our refs.

Game #3 would have to rank up there as one of the best and most exciting games in the history of the Islanders/Rocket.
I’d have to sit down and do some thinking about it (summer project)……but that one would likely be near the top of the list!

Watching at home, we were kinda surprised it wasn't 5 and a game. That was a blatant sucker punch in front of the ref. Maybe earlier in a regular season game it may have been 5. Sherbrooke has gotten lucky on a lot of those calls this series. A lot of boarding penalties either not called or only given 2 where 5 was warranted. They have to keep playing their game though and let Sherbrooke be the undisciplined team.

Sherbrooke fan here 🖐🏻 Awesome game last night from both teams! Referees are not to blame for our lost , they we’re bad for both sides yesterday .. Phoenix have to control their emotions .. And we need to score on PP ..if not, this series is over . But i still believe in our chance, we will have another crazy game to watch tonight! You guys have a great team that has everything needed to win a cup And great fans too! 🤟🏻

They have to keep playing their game though and let Sherbrooke be the undisciplined team. If it were the refs we normally see at games in Halifax (Starzomski et al in Maritime Division) that would have been over penalized. Maybe that's the correct call, or maybe its not. I know that at most games I was at this year that player would be gone for the night. If a ref in the Maritimes Division hears a loud noise its a boarding call. If they see lightning they hide under the bed. And I get it that for years and years some coaches and GMs have lobbied these guys to protect their players. Remember Adam Erne on Jonathan Drouin. Drouin missed a whole lotta games after that. But not every ref is a quick to throw book at every hit. As someone said earlier on the boards. Tyson Hinds seems to elevate every hit. He was 3rd star in the game. That top line was very effective. I think by now going into game 4, the Islanders should know what they are allowed to do without getting called. Usually a team wants to find that out. What can I do and not get a penalty. It appeared in game 3 that Sherbrooke found out early that these refs were going to tolerate hard hits that were borderline. Overall credit the Islanders for not getting a penalty to cancel out the 2 minutes on that play. Charlottetown was guilty of taking after whistle penalties early in the game. Physical game with chippiness is OK, but important keep composure.

One of the best games I have watched...... maybe only topped by that lengthy OT thriller between Bathurst-Halifax in round one
Nothing more to say really... big game players showed their worth..... Lapenna made several huge saves
oh Kieran Gallant please keep your head up if you're going to do the skate across the middle on the blueline.... or you will have a short liuved career.... that was a huge but totally clean hit...... many others were not lol

I gotta give the kid credit, he bounced back up immediately and went back into the play.

He's a trooper i just hate seeing smaller guys put themselves in bad spots like that..... it could have been very bad if the hit wasn't perfectly clean

Only three games can really top that one. Games 3,4, and 6 vs the Armada.
It was exciting to win it on a late power play that was struggling against the Phoenix.
It's too bad this series ends tonight or Wednesday, would've loved to see this one be a best of 7.

It's history now - but since several posters have said it was amongst the best games they've seen this season - I'll throw out some observations.
The game analytics were unavailable yesterday - guessing because Monday was a US holiday and the North American home of InStat is in Philadelphia.
I want to explain the reason I use the word observations. To use analysis would be to suggest having expertise - whereas observations implies things that seem to jump out at you or point to something out of the ordinary. These are only observations. . .
GAME 3 - Sunday May 29
Charlottetown 3 Sherbrooke 2 (F) (Islanders take a 2 games to 1 lead)
Team Index: SP 181; CI 183
Both teams played well enough to win. You don't often see both teams over 180 - at least before this series.
Scoring Chances (Home Plate): SP 20; CI 16
Puck Battles Won: SP 87; CI 76
Hits: SP 19; CI 26
The game sheet claimed 35-42 hits.
Shot Blocks: SP 13; CI 13
Even Strength Puck Possession: SP 18:29; CI 18:23
Talk about a close game almost across the board. . .
Player Index SP: 202 Parent; 199 Hinds Player Index CI: 220 Guay; 212 Simoneau; 204 Cormier; 200 Budgell
TOI SP: D Spacek 26:41; F Anctil 27:12 TOI CI: D Cormier 28:09; F Guay 27:27
+/-: SP +1 x 6 players; CI +1 x 2 players. I should maybe check that one again?
SOG: SP 7 Parent; CI 8 Cormier
Dangerous Scoring Chances: SP 4 Joshua Roy; CI 3 Budgell
Faceoffs: SP 7/10 Roelens; CI 13/21 Brabenec
Hits: SP 4 Joshua Roy; CI 3 Biakabutuka; Gallant and Boyd
SBL: SP 3 Joshua Roy; CI 3 Laaouan
Takeaways: SP 16 Hinds; CI 10 Laaouan
3 STARS:
1. Patrick Guay
2. Xavier Simoneau
3. Tyson Hinds
GAME RATING: ****** - One of those rare instances where you're standing for the entire 3rd period and 5 stars just aren't enough.
REFEREE RATING: ***** Trudel and Drutil - 5 PP chances each - and despite the late call and game winner on the PP - it's hard to argue the call. Their supervisors will likely use that at their clinics to show what to do in a similar situation. I'll never like the game winner scored on a PP late in a game or especially in OT - but I know I'm like - well - I remember the 60's. . .
ATTENDANCE RATING: ****** 4500 - A sell-out - and loud as fukk. . .
BROADCAST RATING: *** I was happy to get the game on Eastlink - or half of it - after the girls high school basketball medals were presented. Really nice job by Eastlink the way they have it set up using the feed from Sherbrooke - but with the live feel. Great job!
BOTTOM LINE: It was a top five game for me this season - easily. . .
