Hot on the heels of their big win on Sunday night, the Islanders will have a chance to wrap this series up in Sherbrooke and clinch a spot in the Presidents Cup final. Once before we found ourselves within a win of the championship series.... that was in the 2018 semi-final vs. Blainville. That year we forced a game 7 with a win on home ice in game 6 but the Armada dominated the deciding game from start to finish.
This year we get two cracks at it. We'll try to wrap it up and eliminate Sherbrooke on Monday night in game 4.
Game time is 8:00 ADT.

The bubble still hard to believe everything that happened in the past couple of years, But hopefully the boys come out flying tonight and take the series. Not going to be an easy game as Sherbrooke has to win but if the boys can weather the storm early on they should prevail.
Sherbrooke is a good strong team so boys have to be ready when the puck drops. At least if the game is close like last night the stress won't be as bad.
GO ISLES GO

What should help tonight is Sherbrooke basically rolled with two lines last night, their top guys should realistically still be pretty tired from that.
Play smart, and walk away from the post whistle scrums. No need to get Sherbrooke fired up over stupid plays

Sherbrooke will come out tonight guns a blazing.........looking to grab an early lead in the opening period.
If the Isles can whether the early storm......I believe the Phoenix will eventually tire and the Isles will be able to capitalize in the 2nd half of the game.
But you can bet that Sherbrooke will come out the opening period, playing for their playoff season on the line.

Back to back games their (Phoenix) top lines better get it done in the first 10 minutes. That will not play out so great for them if its close all night. Sherbrooke will have all kinds of energy early. I think its important to stay out of box early for Isles. Do not give them some easy goals. Make them work and tire down. Pressure is a good thing and can also be a bad thing. Biggest game of series for both teams in reality. If this goes back to PEI its really scary for Isles.

Back to back games where their top two lines played a vast majority of the game. I think Sherbrooke will try, but the damage may already be done. Hopefully I'm right, but we should be the more rested team.

Plandowski and Maynard barely played as the game went on... i'm pretty sure Maynard didn't see the ice in the third at all

So - the Islanders have never made it to a league final before?
I didn't know that.
This series just took on another level of importance.

Sherbrooke got a $500 fine for "request to discipline rejected".
What play caused them to contact the league after they got away with what should've been a boarding major and sucker punch major?

I don't think you can say that they are playing with a shorter bench than us. Both teams are rolling the 1st-2nd lines heavy.
The difference I see is that when Sherbrooke puts on their third line.... Huard, Roelens, Ethan Gauthier.... speedy Huard makes things happen. He has scored in both game #2 and #3. Roelens has been an interesting guy to watch. He's 6'6" and takes up a lot of space. I know Boyd has focused in on him trying to get him off his game....and by times this has worked.... but he looked damn effective yesterday. Gauthier is young and talented and will be an awesome player in the league for years to come.
I'm not complaining about our 3rd line.....and I know that having Gallant out for the first 2 really puts the bottom lines in a blender. Also Todd being out also has impact. Every time he plays he takes the 4th line draws, you not only are you replacing his roster spot... you also need a guy to take faceoffs. That being said, tonight would be a great night for Elliott or Boyd or Gallant to pot one, just to give us a boost.
I think our top 2 lines:
Guay/Brabenec/Stairs Budgell/Simoneau/Roy
are better than their top 2 lines:
Parent/Anctil/Roy Mianscum/Gill/Munroe-Boucher
So if we can dominate them with the lines that are most frequently on the ice, and add a nice boost with a 3rd line goal..... that's great.
In addition, their top pair of Spacek/Hinds....they play a ton. I'm not sure their top lines will wear down...but we can really put the heat on Spacek/Hinds and maybe they start to show cracks.....should be a fun night!

Many teams put in this request to get an extra look. Sherbrooke got a $500 fine for "request to discipline rejected". What play caused them to contact the league after they got away with what should've been a boarding major and sucker punch major?
