This kid has to get a look from some NHL teams this off-season.
If he's back next season, what a trade chip he will be. 💰💰💰💰💰

I really do not understand how he went undrafted and pretty much unlisted this year in any scouting reports
really makes ya wonder
not like the kid is small, a poor skater, a one way player or anything at all he's pretty much a complete package
anyways a very expensive and ironic trade acquisition (in the fact the team we acquired him from is competing for the same title we are right now lol)...... but worth it for sure

I would think that if any teams, the Habs would have an interest in a speedy, offensive French Canadian player...... similar to them taking a flier on Simoneau at last year's draft. I know that each guy is different in terms of what he might look like as a pro player.... but you can't ignore how Guay continues to produce. As for what happened during his draft year that resulted in him not getting selected?.... I do not know, of course. But once again it's another case of a player not demonstrating a significant jump during his draft season. At 16, Guay was 54-18-18-36 with Sherbrooke. Then at 17, he scored 55-21-19-40.... so basically the same production. In my years following the league, I find a sideways 17 y/o season often times really turns the scouts off quickly..... then you are always chasing hoping to get noticed. Scouts hate making a determination only to be proven wrong. So its easier to ignore the guy proving you wrong and go look at more guys proving you right. Reality is we keep seeing some of the same biases and determinations be made even when we see players completely change that narrative. Look at Dumais in Halifax. Scouts wrote the kid off due to size until he tore the league up and now he's viewed as a potential 2nd round pick. He scored 100 points. Doesnt even get a combine invite. How many scouts will push for their NHL team to pick bigger and less killed players who they can more confidently project? Probably many. Yet teams who are successful like Tampa pick those high skilled kids every chance they get it seems like while others make the draft harder than it has to be.

He did get an invite to an nhl camp in 2021 but was unable to go due to illness (the same illness that kept him out of the islanders camp for a bit).
I would think he'll get at least another invite after this year

Dumais will go in the first round. There are enough teams using math that will think that Dumais between 24-32 will be a value pick that someone will take him on the first night of the draft.... especially when this sounds like a weaker draft anyway. Those using math to evaluate players seem to really love Dumais. As a neutral fan, it's nice to see trades work out for both sides. Not including Sherbrooke potentially regretting losing Guay when he eliminates them tonight but you can't count that.
