The Sea Dogs are playing again tonight. Facing an Edmonton team who might feel they were unlucky not to beat Shawinigan last night. Hopefully the Sea Dogs can capitalize on the extra day's rest.
Side note, there was far too many neutral Edmonton fans for my liking last night! If it came down to it, I'd rather the Sea Dogs played Shawinigan rather than Edmonton more than once. Not to undermine Shawinigan, but there's a lot brighter prospects on Edmonton like a Jake Neighbours and Sebastian Cossa.

In Halifax, Moose fans booing Noah Dobson during the Memorial Cup for no reason, and actively cheering for anyone but the Huskies. When Guelph scored against Rouyn-Noranda you'd think the Mooseheads just scored.

(Maybe there is some anti-quebec team bias?) Especially if you read reddit threads were any Q team is automatically discounted as being nowhere to the level of a WHL or OHL team, which yeah there's a quality difference but it's not like playing a MHL team.

It looked to me that Edmonton looked very slow compared to Shawinigan , especially from the second period on, not sure if Edmonton has jet lag or Shawinigan is that fast .
The top line of Shawinigan seemed to always control the play and were dangerous every shift .

There was a few plays last night were he showed why he's played some games in the NHL already.

It would be nice if Td Station could do something about the concession chaos, not like you couldn't see it coming. The number one thing I have heard from out of town fans, is it is horrible and so unorganized. It seems no one knows how form separate lines at the concession windows. The beer lines go every direction, and the coolers/counters could be pushed back a foot or two Why do they still insist on pouring every beer into a cup!!! Two reasons not to do this. 1. It takes to long and 2. What an absolute waste and unnecessary use of plastic! The beer comes in can, why pour into another container that is then thrown out? In this day of wanting to be environmentally friendly, it's long past the time to ditch the plastic cups. Everything to do with the Mem cup has been awesome, except the chaos on the concourse. Yes, I know space is very limited, but the flow could sure be better in my opinion.

I agree about the concourse but unfortunately it's just the buildings limitations. I am curious to know during the planning stages of the arena how nobody thought more than 15 people lined up at any concession stand wouldn't create impossible walkways. Like What they should have tried to do, is have more of those "VIP tents" outside like on the south side and north side exits where you go outside to get your drink/food. Really shows the progression of arena building when you compare the Avenir Centre to Harbour Station concourse wise. Avenir is well thought out and keeping 70% of the concourse hidden behind the seats instead of the open concept is probably the better way to go. Guess that leads into the question. What does Harbour Station look like in 2040? Is it still standing? Is it renovated? Is it replaced? Be curious to see when that time comes.

The quickest way to fix it is to have "pop up" concessions away from main concessions where you sell some but not all of what the regular concessions have. Some rinks have 2 bars just for alcohol, others have some with with just pop/chips/candy leaving the main ones for larger "meals".

That was some game and the Dogs certainly had their chances to win. The Oil Kings goalie certa9nly was a huge factor. The top players did seem to tire certainly the result of just one game previous in the past month+ along with ice time they logged. A win against Shawinigan would give them 7 [pints and first place after the round robin.

The Sea Dogs still control their own destiny. A regulation win vs. Shawinigan and they get a bi to the finals no matter what. If Hamilton can take at least one point from Shawinigan tomorrow night then even an OT win on Saturday puts the Sea Dogs in the finals.

So far after 2 games, special teams appear to be the Sea Dogs biggest weakness. There weren't many penalties called Monday so they managed to get away with it. Poor special teams definitely cost the Sea Dogs the game tonight.

To be fair the refs were shocking tonight. The tying goal in the 2nd period from the Kuz delay of game, deflected off an Edmonton player. You could see it clear as day in the replays. How they missed the blatant boarding and then 40 seconds later cross check from behind on Burns was beyond me. Honestly I think that 2nd period the Sea Dogs dropped playing hockey for either hitting people or were a little timid on the puck. They didn't get their confidence back until the midway point in the third.
I have a theory on the Edmonton players, the reason why all their goals seem to be right in the top corner every time, is because when you're practicing on Cossa at a whopping 6ft6, where else are you putting the puck? Feels like a lot of Edmonton's goals this tournament have been absolute snipes into the top corners.
Probably the best atmosphere at a Sea Dogs game in a long long time. I'm thinking the Charlottetown come from behind overtime win or the night everyone used their flex tickets. It's a shame this team was right out of Covid + inflation. They deserved to be playing to 3k a night in the regular season. What ever happens, I'm glad this team is getting support throughout the tournament.
Another tangent. When it's 3 on 3 overtime and the in arena "hype guy" wants energy, everyone around me was too nervous to form a complete sentence let only "try to be loud" lol.

I think the best case scenario for tonight would be a Shawinigan win in OT. That would guarantee us at least a semi and a chance for a bi to the finals with any win over Shawinigan on Saturday. If Shawinigan wins in regulation then we'd need to beat them in regulation to get the bi to the finals. So we'd basically be starting Saturday's game down half a goal and OT wouldn't matter. At least not in terms of getting a bi to the finals but the 2nd point could be the difference between last change in the semis or not.
Hamilton winning in OT would likely be next best. Any win over Shawinigan still puts us in the finals. We wouldn't be guaranteed a spot in the semis but there'd still be lots of scenarios to get us there without having to play a tie-breaker.
