Wow, what an awesome performance by the Dogs. Can't believe how well they played especially defensively. Haven't seen this style of defensive play until Gardiner took over. He is just a brilliant coach. Well done boys, wish I could be at the parade tomorrow.

The Sea Dogs finally had someone who taught them how to play a shut down defence.

Great tweet by Jeff Marek. it is right on! Quebec Major Junior Hockey League · See more Jeff Marek @jeffmarek · 1h Watching the @sjseadogs celebrate their Memorial Cup win I'd like to put David Kelly's name out there tonight. The former Sea Dogs equipment manager would have LOVED this.

Amazing contribution in tonight's game from Maritime players. One goal from a Halifax, NS native, two from players from Fredericton and one from a Rothesay, NB native. It says a lot about how hockey has improved from this region, And of course we have our NHL Cole Harbour duo as well,

Press conference jokes aside, I don't think it would be that crazy if some NHL team considered MacDougall for a head coaching job ...

Anything could happen, but he honestly doesn't seem all that interested. He did say recently that he'd be open to coaching the World Juniors, though.

Congratulations to the Saint John Seadogs players, coaches, team officials and the fans! My hometown made me proud and also made me miss home watching all the outside shots on TSN during commercial breaks etc.
The tournament was a huge success and there was some excellent hockey played. Congrats again Dog Pound.

Congrats to the Sea Dogs on winning the Memorial Cup. I know I was critical of this build but, they pulled it out in the end and in 10 years, nobody is going to remember the bad parts when they look at that banner hanging from the rafters.

Anyone that says the win should be with an asterisk should get a kick in the nuts. Nobody remembers Memorial Cups, they are rarely mentioned on sports tv in a historical context, there is no Memorial Cup lore, and no memories that really see the light of day outside of the city the wins it. Enjoy, the people in the city will remember. It is a fun tournament.

Enjoy, the people in the city will remember. It is a fun tournament. You hit the nail on the head - rarely are they mentioned. The only people that will talk about it is the fans of the cities where the title was won - just ask Shawinigan in 2012. And is that a bad thing? This tournament really brought an entire region together after two years of hell. I liken this to the 1992 Allan Cup - rarely do you hear (outside of the city) about the 1992 Vito's who won the Allan Cup, but it's folklore around this city - 30 years later and it's still talked about like it happened yesterday. 30 years from now you will hear about how everyone and their dog was hanging from the rafters of TD Station the night the Sea Dogs won the Memorial Cup.

Look, I still remember the 1972-73 Mooseheads like it was yesterday. The enormous line waiting on Main Street for the LBR doors to open. The electricity in the overflowing crowd in the LBR. The improbable comeback vs Amqui after getting hammered in Quebec. It was a great time in Saint John for hockey. The battles between Barry Smith and Alfie Handrahan only to become teammates in the quest for the Hardy Cup. Of course, it meant nothing to most of Canada but it sure meant a heck of a lot to those of us who lived in Saint John and that is the way it should be. And this past tournament had great hockey and enthusiastic crowds but the theme of the tournament, ONE FOR ALL, has resonated across the Canadian hockey scene and will be something the tournament organizers can be very proud of highlighting through the speaker series and other events that took place outside of the Station. The whole event made me very proud of the place that I was born and raised.
