Anyone that says the win should be with an asterisk should get a kick in the nuts. Nobody remembers Memorial Cups, they are rarely mentioned on sports tv in a historical context, there is no Memorial Cup lore, and no memories that really see the light of day outside of the city the wins it. Enjoy, the people in the city will remember. It is a fun tournament. You hit the nail on the head - rarely are they mentioned. The only people that will talk about it is the fans of the cities where the title was won - just ask Shawinigan in 2012. And is that a bad thing? This tournament really brought an entire region together after two years of hell. I liken this to the 1992 Allan Cup - rarely do you hear (outside of the city) about the 1992 Vito's who won the Allan Cup, but it's folklore around this city - 30 years later and it's still talked about like it happened yesterday. 30 years from now you will hear about how everyone and their dog was hanging from the rafters of TD Station the night the Sea Dogs won the Memorial Cup. Exactly! Even a week later, in my friend group we still ask around who was there, and if you were everyone asks about the atmosphere inside the arena which was electric. Friends said that Rocky's had people on tables cheering by the time the empty netter went in. The whole event put Saint John in a fabulous light, all the TSN shots from the city gave it a great look. Brilliant week and a bit of events. Sad that it's over! And sad we'll have to wait at a minimum 25 years or so, for another shot at hosting.
