The Islanders finally kick off their regular season today with a visit to Bathurst.
Not sure who is in the lineup today.... we haven't been hearing too much about what's been up with the team lately.
Game time is 7:00.
This season, all games will be broadcast on the radio on 93.1.

2-1 OT win for the Isles!
Patty Leblanc scores the OT winner.
Lepenna stopping 45/46 shots.......someone must need a top notch netminder..Lepenna is just that.
May not be as skilled as other teams.....but like every Hulton team, they will always bring a tough game.

Great win. It might be a king season wins wise but we will take every win we get. And like Score said this team will be the underdog every game when it comes to talent but I will guarantee they will never be outworked as long as JH is here congrats guys on the first win!

I'm not sold on either Rousseau or James as a goalie you'd want to take on a deep playoff run. Even after acquiring Huard they have an open spot for a 20. Good to see the Isles pick up a win, good to see what their team actually looks like, too. Weird note - looks like Hulton kinda relaxing on the 1-30 number scheme. Seemed before the only guys he let a few guys pick numbers higher than 30. This year there's a 47, 55 and 77... and all from rookies.

Also, a nice 1st QMJHL game for 16yr old dman, Marcus Kearsey.
Finished with 1A...was +2, which led the Isles....and had 4SOG, which also led the Isles.
Pretty solid opening game for the rookie blueliner in the 2-1 win.

The issue is the cost.....Hulton isn't going to give him away. Also, 20yr olds can be traded at anytime......perhaps some teams are seeing how their netminders start off....then look to jump on Lepenna early.

Perhaps a package of Franky and Boyd to Halifax

But Boyd can’t be traded there until Christmas….or at least if he is dealt prior to Christmas he can only play something like 5 games.
Usually in those circumstances guys play Jr. A and get some spot duty in major junior. Not sure how it works with university hockey…..if he could play with SMU and be “called down” to the Mooseheads.
