Well the boys had a great weekend. They still are letting too many goals in the net but seem to be playing better ever since the loss in Saint John. Kidney with an great weekend and likely the best empty net goal which I’m not one to usually comment on. But that was great vs Blaneville and great to see Melanson back.
And nice job by the goalies. Both had strong games overall.
2 wins isn’t bad!

Fleming was playing great at Grand Sault prior to his call-up. I wonder if he might be staying a while? The team didn’t really give Howatt a shot at playing but Fleming got to play his first weekend in Bathurst. Not sure if that speaks to the coach’s confidence in either of the 2 back-ups.

Howatt is the backup goalie in CB. Titan don’t seem very interested in developing their young goalies. Goaltending situation looks shaky for the next few years based on the current development plan.

Last nights loss was on the goalies more then the d in my opinion. CB goalie was great and ours both not so much. Goalie development is critical to rebuild on a weaker team and currently the goalies are very inconsistent. Good one game bad the next.
Yesterday they were more bad then good.

1st goal was extremely weak, Litvinov has to have that one.
2nd goal was a bad turnover by Larkin...
Howatt's 1st goal against was a 2 on 1 but he looked like a fish out of water on the attempt...
team kind of just let go after it was 4-1, fully believe they could've won this game. Melanson hitting the post twice was rough as well.
on to the next one..

Litvinov is 19YO. Not the goalie of the future. IMO shouldn’t be the backup when Bednar is back. Team has to decide on Howatt or Fleming as next year’s goalie and play them half the games until Bednar returns and after Bednar returns the “goalie of the future” should play 1/3 of the games. If Dwyer doesn’t feel comfortable with either of the 2 guys, then he should be scouring every province for that diamond in the rough. The other option is the Euro draft.

The big question is will Bednar be back before the season ends?

Even if Bednar does come back, I assume he will be traded. If not, I assume he will not be seriously motivated. If he is traded what will the team get for a 20 YO euro, especially one who has been injured half the season. Probably not much. Just my opinion, but time to move on from Bednar and get a non-euro 20YO goalie from somewhere in Canada or the US who can do the job. It’s a young d corps that is and will make mistakes. They need a goalie who has the ability to bail them out. There has to be a 20YO goalie caught in the age dilemma somewhere that can help this team.

Another good game by Fleming vs Dru. He's an affiliated player so he can play 10 games and then he has to stay with the team. Otherwise his availability to the team is done. Question for people who know: If his 10 games are used up by the end of November or early December, can the team bring Fleming up then to be on the active roster?
Even if the team alternates Howatt and Fleming until the Christmas break, I want to see Fleming up with the team after Christmas on the active roster. If Bednar is not back, so be it. Fleming and Howatt should be given the opportunity. Playing Litvinov after Christmas brings the team nothing for the team's future. Even if Litvinov is better, it doesn't seem like the difference is considerable. Without Kidney and Melanson, the team will suck. No way around that. But it's an incredible opportunity for the kids to step up and take control of their destiny.

Fleming has played very well in the games that I've seen. He has to stay with the team. I heard today that Bednar is not injured; it's a medical (illness) thing.

Fleming reminds me of Arsenault a couple years ago. I’d keep him and play him next few games. Yesterday he as solid. Litinov has been good or bad. Not much in between. With a young D core either you get a older goalie to keep the team in games after Xmas or see which of the 3 goalies steps up and play them.
I thinks it’s fair to say who ever is the number one will face a lot of shots after Xmas so next month or so will give you a idea of who is uping their games.

The fact that Fleming is an affiliated player makes keeping him long term a concern or a consideration.
