Fortier-Gendron has been an interesting prospect to watch so far. On the surface he really doesn't do anything flashy or standout really, but he's very smart and plays the game safer than most of our veteran defenseman do. He reminds me abit of watching Adam Holwell at age 16, and I think his offence will come in a few years the same way that Holwell's did, unlike someone like Morin who was putting up points right away. The fact that he has not been scratched one game this year at his age is a testament to how sound and mature he plays on the ice, even though it probably wouldn't hurt to give him a rest every so often. Despite the minutes he gets I would have to really think hard from every game I've watched to think of any glaring mistakes, or turnovers he has, and I can remember many others by the rest of our D. I was a little unsure of the move to trade up to get him initially, especially giving up Baillargeon who was coming off a big run to the telus cup, but so far its looking like it was a good move. Baillargeon has yet to score a goal in his 17 year old season, and looking at the other guys picked after him, many are not in the Q, and one went NCAA. Leroux is doing well who was picked at #18.

Steinman is a solid goalie. He made the game tougher than it should have been.

Steinman is a solid goalie. He made the game tougher than it should have been. He's been outstanding, rarely has a bad game. He's the clear #1 the next 3 seasons. I thought the Cats played really well tonight, change a bounce or 2 and some poor penalties at the end and it could have been a game that went to OT. A good effort against a top team. They don't have the same high end skill as the contenders but they have good depth in the lineup to keep up. Marcil being out is definitely noticeable, but nice to see Grenier get lots of ice. Trenholm has been a nice addition so far, excellent shot on the 1st Cats goal and does a little bit of everything.
