Saint John heads into Charlottetown for a visit as we host our first home game in a while.
We are in a slide after a disappointing weekend. Hopefully we get back in track and in the win column.
Game time is 7:00 PM.

Really hoping the crowd can get them back into things! Should be a good turn out with the $2 promotion. Been awhile since they’ve had their home crowd cheering for them!
Got to turn it around or we’re looking at not making the playoffs! Let’s go Isles!!!

Taking 4 points out of Cape Breton would have been key for getting to the 6 seed. It’s a lot more work given that we only came home with one point. Even worse, the Eagles picking up 3 points puts them right in the mix for trying to land that 6th spot.

Lots of shots…..but also some very weak defensive coverage.
Need to tighten up!

We play St John two more times and they are 4 points behind us now. I hope you’re right but after being at tonight’s game…it’s not too far off to say we may not pull this off. I believe We’ll get a win tomorrow. We always play better on the second night of back to back and they should be plenty angry after this game. I hope you’re right.

Islanders are almost guaranteed a playoff spot but it could be a tough first round. It will take more than the Sea Dogs passing you to knock you out, which isn't exactly likely. Sea Dogs only have 4 games left to your 6 and need to make up at least 4 points (not sure who has the tie-breaker). That's a pretty tough task for a team that has struggled to win games all year. But remember, it's the top 16 in the league that make the playoffs, not necessarily the top 8 in the east. A quick look at the standing and I see you're tied for 13th with games in hand on 3 teams chasing you. Win tomorrow and you're in 12th. Drummondville would need to beat Gatineau to remain tied and move upto 12th with you. It would take a minor miracle to miss the playoffs. Even if you don't pick up another point (you will), you probably still get in.

In order for you to miss the playoffs, 3 of the following would have to happen:
Bathurst win out Val D'Or gain 4 points on you (they still play Sherbrooke and RNx2 and have no idea who is playing in net for any of their 4 games left) Blb gains 3 on you (Quebec, BCx2,Gatineaux2 remaining) SJ gains 4 (SJ plays Hal, Charlottetownx2, Bathurst)
That's not including Drummondville because short of one of SJ/Bathurst catching Charlottetown, Charlottetown will be one of the 8 in this division.

and honestly who is even excited about making the playoffs this year
the only reason I didn't want to miss out was because we didn't have our own first round selection
i'll admit a few weeks ago when we got hot I was thinking ok maybe a solid first round matchup was possible which would have likely convinced me to get some tickets
the last weeks performance has me saving my money now for sure lol
last nights game was ours to lose and we did
absolutely awful specialty teams ( no shock), rotten defensive coverage and a rare off night in goal for Robillard (should definite have been pulled and rested for tonight)
as for Repcik glad he's gone home to graduate but what awful timing to do so.... school season in slovakia must be way different than here i guess

For a team that is on the ropes, Saint John came out super flat. We have to start taking advantage of an opponent's slow start. We should've been able to go up a few goals and really break their spirits.

I was excited about the playoffs a few weeks ago when we were playing well. The notion of climbing to 6th place and playing Rimouski seemed within the realm of possibility. Rimouski, at #3, is a different opponent than the other top teams like Quebec, Halifax, Sherbrooke, Gatineau... even Victoriaville and Rouyn-Noranda. Rimouski is talented but young. They traded away Brunet and are focused on the next couple of years. They can get hot and play really well, but, like us, they are prone to going into a tailspin for stretches. If we could get to 6th, I like our chances of having a great series with them that might go deep. Our experienced veterans...Gallant, Biakabatuka, don't forget Robillard.... might provide enough to leverage the series in our direction. But this is now not realistic. We've squandered too many points away to Cape Breton and Saint John. We can't win them all.... but over the last couple of weeks, we should have easily been able to add another 3 points to our total had we played like we are capable of. Also, Baie-Comeau (current #6) has played better of late with a couple of wins against teams above them.... we're very unlikely to catch them. So the likely playoff opponent is either Halifax or Quebec. Against either team, if you're hoping to see Islander wins, likely a better use of your time is trying to figure out where our first round pick comes from rather than how many games we might take off our opponent. I like this group of players when we play well, but the last few outings have been painful to watch. and honestly who is even excited about making the playoffs this year the only reason I didn't want to miss out was because we didn't have our own first round selection i'll admit a few weeks ago when we got hot I was thinking ok maybe a solid first round matchup was possible which would have likely convinced me to get some tickets the last weeks performance has me saving my money now for sure lol last nights game was ours to lose and we did absolutely awful specialty teams ( no shock), rotten defensive coverage and a rare off night in goal for Robillard (should definite have been pulled and rested for tonight) as for Repcik glad he's gone home to graduate but what awful timing to do so.... school season in slovakia must be way different than here i guess
