Sure, but Irving Oil is the most recognizable company under the Irving Group of Companies (an umbrella JDI is also under) and run by Roberts Uncle. Irving Oil sponsorships have been plastered all over everything since the inception of the team, including gas coupons for season ticket holders, Zamboni sponsorships etc. The idea that those colors aren't inspired by Irving Oil is just a bizarre argument to bother getting into. Then again I'm still waiting to see the giant list of teams who all announced their memorial cup bid right before playoffs to increase ticket sales. That is false. While the Irving Group of Companies existed originally, they are no longer a group. There is even debate about whether the Irvings are even majority owners in IOL given that Repsol owns 100% of Canaport and given that the refinery was quietly sold earlier this year (https://tj.news/telegraph-journal/101984932#:~:text=The%20Irving%20Oil%20refinery%20sold,for%20a%20combined%20%2450.8%20million.) Doesn't change the fact that the red white and blue is the most recognised logo of the Irving companies.

I believe the announcement will involve the 2024 QMJHL Draft.

Also anyone paying $1 for those "cheeseburgers" at the Coliseum was still being ripped off IMO. Fries were a good deal though.

I'm not sure what else I expected Rather than discuss the tangled web that is the Irving Legacy here's the point: - Irving is highly unlikely to change the team name and colors. - CHL Teams do not usually announce Memorial Cup Bids (that are 2 years out) a week before playoffs to increase ticket sales

New team branding/uniforms?? That would make my day. The Wildcats have probably the worst uniform in the CHL, and that's after having improved them in the most recent iteration, but I feel like Irving has way too much attachment to the Wildcats name/logo etc to ever change. I mean the team is in Irving Colors essentially. Is the Wildcats brand actually unpopular? I like the jersey and logo. One of my favourites in the Q after Sherbrooke's original off white jersey.

Well I can only really speak for myself but to me its just a very childish logo and brand, and that often reflects in the age of fan you typically see wearing Wildcats gear. There is really no "coolness" factor to wearing any of the Wildcats swag around town. Its definitely improved since they moved to Avenir as they've added an alternate logo on a few things, but I'd like to see them move towards a more modernized logo where the Cat at least looks a little more intimidating rather than something out of a garfield cartoon and change up the color scheme abit. I thought their 25th anniversary jersey with the all blue was sharp. If they kept those as their primary jersey and altered the logo I'd be happy. I've been a fan most of my life, and have hardly spent a penny at the roar store for this very reason. I bought one of the new jerseys in the 2020 season, but after a couple of years of those I'm already bored of them. Sherbrooke we can definitely agree on, If I was a fan of them I'd probably have one away and one home jersey, multiple hats etc.

It kind of depends what you like in a uniform ... some like cool new looks, others prefer traditional classics that don't change much over time (like the Original 6 teams). I don't think it is going out on a limb much to say RKI is a traditionalist - if you look at other companies in the Irving Group, they tend to have consistent branding that doesn't change much over time (can anyone think of the last time an Irving company re-designed their logo??)- and I would fully expect the Wildcats to be the same as long as he is in control.

XThey will retire a number Thats a possibility I've never thought of. Is that worthy of a press conference and appetizers? Probably not. I've understood they've had a Crawford jersey retirement in the works over the past few season. But between covid and then other scheduling conflicts they haven't been able to line it up. I'm not sure why you'd announce it now though, that type of thing you would want to have in your season schedule well in advance to draw a big crowd, and it also doesn't make much sense to announce it now for next season. Having it for game 1 of the playoffs seems a little random also. Guess we'll know in less than 24 hrs.

You have to go under the main CHL Tab to see the press conference link
