We are a little over two weeks from the draft. The Sea Dogs pick bank per Nouslesfans is: 2Mon-2BC-4Vic-6-10-11-13-14 By my count, those first two picks are 30 and 33. There was an article in the paper last week which said that the MacDonald trade is not complete. It was rumored on here that a second rounder will be involved (that could either mean that the 2024 2nd goes back to Drummondville for a 2023 2nd (which logic would suggest Drummondville's 2nd this year based on rumors and speculation) or that it is a net add 2nd based on performance. We still have to clear up the Import situation, but something to keep in mind is that Mateiko had 27 points in 32 games after Christmas and Simek had 20 in 27. The Import Draft is not a draft, so having a relatively high pick doesn't mean a whole lot. You could walk away with two imports that are tangibly better than what we have or you could have trouble getting one (which isn't unlikely). In terms of trade assets, Reynolds is the most likely guy to be moved, but he has a no-trade clause and has earned the right to have a say in any move. If he moved, Halifax and Moncton seem like the most likely destinations. Beyond Reynolds, most of the players would either be tinkering style moves or we'd never get anything close to how we value them. In terms of players to pick up, we should be looking to get both picks this year and 06s.

I believe its an additional 2nd coming from the MacDonald trade. Around the time he was promoted to GM, Anthony Stella said in an interview that they'll have three 2nds this year

Stella also mentioned that he was interested in acquiring multiple additional draft picks. That suggests he means to trade roster players but I agree with the earlier post that I'm not sure we would get much of a return.

There is a possibility that someone values one of our D highly given that they all bring unique skills. It's possible that a player or two needs a change of scenery. It's also possible that we are looking at shuffling picks and/or players to get more this year. We are at a point where we have found a few good 04s, where 05s will now be competing with invites, and where we should be acquiring 06s and 07s to supplement this group.

Eagles have been looking to trade 8th Overall but I'm assuming they'd probably want Cole Burbidge or Eriks Mateiko in return.

A deal centered around Burbidge is a little more difficult (especially with him coming off a 50 point season as a rookie)

A deal centered around Burbidge is a little more difficult (especially with him coming off a 50 point season as a rookie) Mainly used Mateiko and Burbidge as an example because they’re your highest scoring 05" forwards from last season which is a need for the Eagles, a Burbidge deal would be preferable for the Eagle but definitely would be difficult, but from what's currently known to the public the Eagles should have four 1st in the 2024 draft including Saint John's own 2024 1st and have 8th Overall and three 2nds in the 2023 draft so they have assets this year and next to make a trade if Saint John wants picks.

When I say difficult, I dont mean CB can't do it, I mean that SJ would need an overpay to give up the brightest spot from a rough year who lines up with a year that the team could be midpack or better.

Interesting I didn't think the Sea Dogs would be aiming that high up the standings so soon as the 2024-25 season as it'd be a pretty quick turnaround from their Memorial Cup run. If that's the case though then ya it be pretty hard to get them to bite on trading Burbidge.

Likely completing the MacDonald trade. Otherwise that would be a terrible trade for Gat.
