Guess we can expect 2 new euros man that’s kind of underwhelming for Repcik.. I feel he’s going to have a break out year I for one was actually shocked at how good Repcik did at the World Juniors then came back to Charlottetown and did next to nothing to replicate that production....yet the World Juniors was better competition overall...weird situation mind you his season overall wasn't terrible by any means.

Hulton sounds really pleased to have been able to grab the first two picks at where they did. I’m assuming both will step right into the lineup next season

A few thoughts post draft....
They seem to be very excited to get Flanagan and Conrad.
The Repcik deal shouldn't come as a big surprise. While he did show well for us, there was some inconsistency in his play. He was about a 0.62 point per game player and you'd like that a little higher for a guy with his offensive capabilities. You can say the return was underwhelming, but it's pretty clear that we would be letting him go for nothing in a couple of weeks so it's good to get something for him.
Repcik was one of our best offensive players... and we were thin in that area. There will be pressure on our forwards for guys to emerge as strong point producers.
I agree that we likely target goaltending in the Euro draft as we really haven't addressed that major hole in our lineup. If not, we're likely subject to another season of "musical goalies". The (likely) 20 y/o netminder we'd acquire in the summer might not be as good as the guy who shakes free in the first few weeks of the season... or the guy who becomes available from the OHL or WHL even later. Right now the goalie depth is probably Grimes-Flanagan-Riff-Boudreau with the rest of the candidates either emergency recalls or guys to develop.
With the pre-season roster on the Q website, you can connect the dots on who we've let go from our protected list. All of our 2022 selections remain on our list. From the 2021 draft, we've let go of Jano Zambakdjian, Noah Woodard, and Nicolas Hui (I think all three were gone last year). From 2020, we've walked away from Jonah Jelley. Interestingly enough, a few older players we have cut.... Robbie Rutledge, Carter Murchison remain part of our protected group. Ben Boyd also remains on our protected list. It might a long shot, but I wonder if he re-considers playing major junior as a 20 y/o this coming season after playing sparingly with SMU in 2022-23. He was looking for a trade to the Halifax area and wasn't granted his request, so maybe there's too much bad blood there to consider such a thing.
Following the Euro draft we'll get a better picture of how the team will shape up.

Here's some info on the first few selections of our draft: charlottetownislanders.com/article/2023-islanders-entry-draft-recapIn the article, Hulton talks about the deal with Gatineau to move up to select Flanagan. We moved a 3rd and a 5th to slide up into the 2nd round. This is what was talked about as the final conclusion to the Lapenna trade.

I've been asked by an Islanders poster to post an Islanders draft review so here it is:
Owen Conrad: The steal of the draft. Still don't know how or why he was still available at 20th. Equally good in the offensive zone as he is in the defensive zone. Strong skater, mobile, transitions well. Accurate and heavy shot. Uses his size to win battles in front of the net. He will be a pro player. There's no doubt in my mind.
Anthony Flanagan: Goal scorer. Plays at a high pace. Always a threat in the offensize zone. He's a player who could learn to use his teammates a little more. Needs to improve his play in defensive zone to be a 200 foot guy.
Zackary Plamondon: Two way defenseman. Smooth skater. Plays a simple game on the breakout. A bit raw physically but has room to grow.
Mathis Valente: Lanky forward. Another project type player. Played Midget Espoir last season and should easily be able to step into Midget AAA next season. His puck skills make him an interesting prospect.
Jeremy Dumas: Looks to be more of a bottom 6 forward but nothing more. Always involved physically. Brings a good energy to every game.
Kenzie Wagner: I like his chances of being a regular in the Q. Fluid skater. Effortlessy can change from backwards to forwards. His physical game is underrated.
Nathan Weber: Another high value pick. Smaller forward with high end motor and skill set. Noticeable every shift.
As fot the others, I don't know much about.
