I noticed Kelsey Tessier behind the bench for Team White. I wonder if he’s the new assistant coach or just helping out at camp like John DeCourcey for the past few years. Anyone know the difference between Bernier’s role as Player Development Coordinator (says “Director” other places on the website) and Tessier’s Skill Development Coordinator? Is it just that Bernier will be working on the player’s overall game and Tessier will be working on specific skills (skill handling, shot, etc.)? Macro vs Micro essentially?

No Pelliteri or Niles in the lineup. Are they still in camp? They were not on the list of players that left camp so I assume that they are still in Moncton. It’s likely that they just don’t plan to play unless they are guaranteed a spot - the NCAA is still an option as long as they don’t play in a game and pay their on way for the rest of training camp. Probably just an oversight, but interesting to note that Moncton’s website’s roster page lists their pre-season roster minus all the NCAA guys who didn’t report (Cornforth, Eiserman, Lund, Flemming, etc.), but it still lists Gould. Probably nothing since they didn’t even talk about him post draft.

Parent was really good again yesterday, Its gonna be hard to cut him. Supprien was also impressive. Niles plus the other FA's leaving gives them a better good chance, but they are older than guys like Sampson, Lagare, Deslauriers etc
Carrier is such an eerily similar player to Pelletier.
If they go with 14 FW it would look like
Locks:
1. Trenholm (20) 2. Loshing (19) 3. Muller (19) 4. Auger (19) 5. Collard (18) 6. Mercier (18) 7. Lounsbury (18) 8. Sumpf (18) 9. Smith (17) 10.Desnoyers (16) 11.Carrier (16)
Bubble
12. Parent (18) 13. Glas (17) 14. Sampson(17)/Deslauriers(17)/Supprien (18) - battling for last spot
I was curious to watch Lagare but from what I saw his skating wasn't strong, Sampson would be a better version of what he brings and already has experience with the team.

I wonder if they would entertain trading Auger or Mercier to make room for a bigger/younger player? Auger can't seem to stay healthy and Mercier has never lived up to the hype.

Moving mercier would be a mistake. He’s going to have breakout season. I would however move Auger. Can’t stay healthy and you’d want a more impactful overager in a go for it year

Strange that he wasn’t included in the list that the Wildcats put out of the players that left camp. I’m guessing that this means that they likely roll with the defensemen we all expected (not lines): Boutin-Morin Plandowski-Zielinski AFG-Grenier Ballentyne The only way I thought that there could be a change is if Pellitteri had impressed and they wanted to keep him to lock him in. I think Lindsay has potential, but probably better for him to go back to U18

It’s looking like Moncton could have up to 3 spots open on D next year (assuming they don’t make any moves). I wouldn’t be surprised if a 20 year old D is brought in next offseason though.

I would have given pellitteri a shot. He looked steady and poised.

The fact that our camp has gotten zero media coverage almost a full week in is embarrassing. Doesn't need to be a daily play by play but just an update on guys cut or even talk about our recent home game at minimum.

Kevin Barrett is currently in witness protection for being one of only a few people in Moncton to get Taylor Swift tickets.

I agree and would do the same, but from what I’ve seen, it doesn’t seem like any defenceman is really standing out or making a push for the roster so far in camp. Obviously it’s early and things can change when the veterans are added, but outside of AFG and Zielinski, it seems like the 2006s on D aren’t a particularly strong group - same with the 2005s (outside of Morin) unless they want to give Hackett a shot. I guess it shouldn’t be unexpected because Moncton ignored the position from rounds 3 to 7 in the 2021 and 2022 drafts. Hopefully 2 of Deslauriers, Legare and / or Sampson show enough to make the roster to justify waiting until the 8th round to select a second defenseman in 2022.

I find the closer you get to the net the more "late blooming" players you get from the position. I would not be quick to cut 19 year old D and goalies unless I could flip them for a great value(see Filion). I would rather start the year with vets and if they don't perform or the season isn't one of contention, you can easily move them at midseason and bring up young guys. You can also use the AF rules to get their feet wet in regular QMJHL games.
