Eagles are on the road in Saint John this Friday and Saturday 7:00 p.m. start time, The Eagles are expected to have Cam Squires and Cam MacDonald back in the lineup as both have been returned to the Q from their respective NHL training camps and hopefully will provide a much need boost to the offense after the team's dismal performance on opening weekend.
Either way the team needs a much better effort this weekend.

Getting back the vets up front should see a big change in terms of having an offensive attack.
So many times in game 1 vs Moncton they really needed someone to take charge and nobody did...I dont think that happens with the Cam's back in.
Ultimately what to hope for out of this is a consistent work ethic. Wins/losses 100% matter but after last week...show some drive and some some emotion. If you lose a hard fought game...learn from it. But don't come out of it regretting the effort level.

Yes, having both Cams back will be a huge help. Mentally as well. The team in general will play with more confidence knowing they will have no excuse if they lay another egg.
On another note, I am a little surprised at how little Burbage was able to generate over the 120 minutes played last weekend, given how much he cost you guys. I didnt see the games so not sure how he performed. Playing against Seadogs maybe will ignite something in him. Hope so for Eagle fans sake.

Like I have said before , I hope this all works out but you can't help but think about the price that was paid for Burbidge and Schmidt when you see them out there .

Still early with Burbridge but hard not to agree on Schmitt...and hard not to wonder if that's in his head because as much as you just want him to elevate his game to another level he hasn't done it yet. But so much of it is confidence. This weekends set of games should be a good catalyst for a good rebound shaking off whatever that opening weekend was.

Individually, i'll give them a pass atm as its only been 2 games. The entire team put up 2 stinkers. These 2 games in saint john, the team could go off the same way moncton did against us then every single person will be changing their tune. Lets give them the benefit of the doubt, give them a few games to get accustomed to playing with each other, for another new head coach, in a different system, with arguably our 3 top forwards not playing in those 2 games. We have a few guys playing further up in the lineup then what they should be. Now that the Cams are back that should help eleviate some of that pressure on a few of these kids. Where i do agree is on Schmitt. He hasnt played based on the value we gave up since we acquired him. We definately need more out of him. Lavoie is being asked to carry the main part of the defensive load as a 17 year old after playing 20+ mins a game as a 16 year old. Thats unheard of. Shortall has been a force back there and i'll be the first to admit i thought it was a mistake keeping him as a 20, but after the last 2 games, i am changing my tune on that. 2 games in and we are all coming with torches and pitchforks ready to throw the year away saying no heart and this and that. But again its only 2 games. Lets cut them some slack, cheer them on whether it be while attending games or from afar, however everyone chooses to cheer them on.

Some said the poor weekend may lead some of the casuals taking in Friday to show up less. Hard to argue that. Some tied the poor results to an unprepared coaching staff. Debate either side of it….hard to call it torches and pitchforks considering it was a 13-1 score difference. Nobody tossed anything away. People called out a poor effort. Some people are more mad at people saying there was no heart…..then they are that there was no heart.

Team should look much different tonight as the Cams are able to generate offense on their own, hopefully they come out strong and start putting a couple solid games together.

1-0 SJ after one. Brutal first 10 minutes. 2 PP’s didnt generate much. But started coming on late so hopefully some momentum changes.

They probably just don't wanna mess up the pairings too much would be my guess.

Things were looking good Burbridge with a nice feed to send Shields in all alone and he sniped the first one and Burbridge potted a rebound off a MacDonald shot for a PPG to make it 2-1.
But Mateiko scored to tie it and Reynolds with a late one and its 3-2 SJ after 2.
Shots 18-12 SJ.
