2 big late goals by the Eagles to pull out a win 4-3.
Roy tied jt at 3 after putting away a Stahon rebound.
Stahon with the game winner with 2 minutes to go.

I caught a bit of the game - good to see the Eagles able to pull off a win but... still a few concerning things. First and foremost - all 3 Saint John goals were very save-able.
Beverige with not even that hard a wrister from 80 feet, I get it was screened but... that's one that could be stopped.
Meteiko beat him from the top of the right circle with a shot he had a pretty clear view of
And then Reynolds beats him from just inside the left circle, there's a ton of bodies in front but he's so deep in the net and low to the ice.
If the Eagles are going to have success this year he's gotta have some of those.

Interesting weekend, really great to see the team get back to 2-2 instead of 1-3 or worst case scenario.
Would like to see maybe one more scorer added for depth in the top 6 as it seems MacDonald/Squires will be scoring the lion's share of the goals for the team this season with Burbidge/Houde serving as primary playmakers. We have lots of crash and bang depth in the bottom 6 but they seem to come with very little touch around the net as seen in the first 2 games.
I don't think this team makes a serious push with just two primary goal scorers, and we definitely don't have the goaltending/defense right now to be able to win 2-1 games.

One way would be a 20 year old Offensive Guy but I think Shortall is a Favourite of the Hockey Ops Guys .

I can see a Shortall going to Bathurst to get one of Orr or Roelens. Then go for a big fish in the market such as Jordan Tourigny or Bilodeau on SJ.
Squires-Burbidge-Orr/Roelens Newcombe-MacDonald-Houde Stahon-Patterson-Shields Fullerton-Roy- Ricard
Biggar-Lavoie Tourigny-Schmitt Daigle-Desjardins
Would be a nice lineup to end the season.

Roelens wouldn't be spending any time on the wing as he's arguably the best faceoff centre in the league. I would like him here too although he would cost significantly more than just Shortall. Also losing Shortall would be a tough blow for this defense that I also don't think this team could afford to lose out on.

The good news is they knew when to turn it on and turn 2 losses into big wins. But both starts were terrible. There are some bad habits that are still being worked out...or at least we hope. But 4 bad starts in a row isn't great. Maybe a week at home sees that be a focus. You're also right on the bottom 6. Need both more banging/crashing and more offense. Little was happening when those guys were out there. Also...Reynolds was an absolute beast in both of those games for SJ. He's going to bring back some nice assets if he's traded.

Too many positional mistakes being made by guys we have high hopes for and expect more from.
