The Dogs start off the 6th week in Charlottetown.
I'm hoping that Robinson starts tonight and Sunday given how well he has done (1.57, .950 so far).
It would be nice to see our fully assembled D play together (preferably as a 6 man unit with Amyot, though if we go to 7, I would towards MacLean over Dassylva right now).
Up front, I love watching the Akkouche - Beveridge - Bellemare line when they play together. I'm hoping Woods gets in to a game this week, and we need Pierre-Noel and Laforge to also be taking draws, which makes the previously mentioned line hard to play.
I'm leaning something like: Mateiko - Reynolds - Reinhart Simek - Beveridge - Elie Akkouche - Laforge - Bellemare Woods - Pierre-Noel - Beaulieu/Calder
Tivey - Ianniello Bilodeau - Gauthier Amyot - Mann

Watched the game online. Great game very fast. I have to say that I am not sold on Mann. Yes he is big but to me that’s all I that I can say that is good about him. In my opinion he looks lost out there. I would rather watcher the younger D play than him.

Really liked watching Beveridge tonight, should continue to be an exciting player for SJ as he gets older

In my opinion he looks lost out there. I would rather watcher the younger D play than him. With the exception of maybe Ianniello, I've been disappointed with the D overall this season, especially the 2 veterans that we traded for. Haven't seen much of Mann yet but the D hasn't performed any better collectively since he arrived. Gauthier had been a massive disappointment so far in my opinion. I wasn't familiar with him before this season but I knew he captained Rimouski last season so figured he must be a nice addition. So far I'm not seeing it at all at either end of the rink. If anything I often consider him a liability. Tivey and Bilodeau have been okay, but based on last season I was expecting more offensively from them than what they've produced so far. I really thought our defensemen would be our strength this season, but so far they've been our biggest weakness. 90 combined shots in this game (84 in regulation) with the opponent getting the majority but the Sea Dogs still getting quite a few themselves. That really reminds me of the team a few seasons ago when the D was led by a bunch of offensive 17 year-olds.

I completely agree with you for Mann someone should check if he as a heartbeat I would definitely play Amyott before him. Give quality minutes to Tivey and Bilodeau like they do to Iaenello and the points will come our 2nd power play is terrible up front. I was told that Gauthier was a defensive D, ok he likes to hit but gets caught in almost every game Watched the game online. Great game very fast. I have to say that I am not sold on Mann. Last night was a prime example of why buying tickets in the QMJHL is a terrible proposition. Charlottetown and Saint John played an entertaining game but the Romeo goal was directly caused by Mateiko getting clipped by Kearsey and the Simek penalty was absolute garbage (he got 2 minutes for interference for getting hit away from the play). Note: these were both situations that were (or should not have been) called by the referee with a conflict of interest.
Swinging in the opposite direction, the whole "roughing" incident in the 3rd involved 3 officials standing around and doing nothing while Hopkins attempted to crowd control (note: that wasn't even Hopkins end of the ice, but the other ref and the two linesmen just decided that they didn't feel like doing anything)

However, I will say, the only game that I have seen that I feel the officials didn't really screw anything was the game where the 4 officials came through from Quebec. I know it is a cost thing, but would be nice to see Maritime/Quebec refs swap more often. Can only see so many Hicks', Hopkins' and Mills'.

The game last night would have been a good one to see in person. I am no expert my thoughts are similar to everyone on the D. This is my first season watching Saint John as I moved somewhere else I liked Tiveys skating and skill level but makes some really bad and unnecessary passes at times. Gauthier I thought would be better defensively. Bilodeau I expected more from him as well from what he put up for points last year. Dassylva I liked him the first few games but he has disappointed me since. Last night made a great stretch pass but the shot into the shin pads leading the first goal was a u13 mistake. Ianniello gets the points but also gets caught up ice too much. MacLean does not get enough ice time to get a full read on but his game is getting better. I like his D zone first style. Mann not a fan. As I mentioned before his size is his only good point. Amyot good skater makes smart plays. His size is his downfall. He is not strong enough to handle guys in puck battles and does not put himself in the corner first. This is how I rank them right now
Tivey Gauthier Bilodeau Ianniello Amyot MacLean Dassylva Mann

I'm willing to give Mann a pass for now as he's just coming off an injury and hasn't been playing with the team for very long. Hopefully he becomes more of a physical presence and the shut down D-Man that we need him to be.
As for Gauthier, he hasn't been awful but a bit disappointing for a 20. Hopefully he turns it around. He wouldn't be the first player to prove me wrong after I was critical of him.

He wouldn't be the first player to prove me wrong after I was critical of him. I think the issue with Gauthier is more of us not having possession as much as anything else. Our possession numbers highlight the negatives instead of the positives. If you look at our roster, we are dressing 5-6 top 6 forwards most nights, a couple of guys who could play 3rd line on a decent team and a bunch of 4th liners. If we get some kind of in-season progression, our possession might improve, but playing 2 4th lines against Moncton and Halifax is going to highlight every mistake our D makes.

They keep showing a replay of an illegal hit on Beveridge that should have been a 5 and a game

Our 1st power play is terrible. Reynolds is one of the reason.

It's gotten a bit better the past few games before tonight (which isn't saying much and it was against weaker competition) but I'm sure we've still given up more short handed goals than we've scored power play goals this season.
