November kick off with game 1 of a tough road trip. We are in Gatineau were we'll pay a visit to the last place overall team in the league.
It goes without saying how important a win is here. Those fans who have followed this league for a while know that November is a grind. Those first few weeks of the season you seen some interesting and sometimes unexpected patterns and results..... but when the calendar turns to November, the good teams usually put the engine into drive and the weaker teams fall off. I'm still not exactly sure what I feel the Islanders will do in November, but we've got an opportunity here to collect an important 2 points.
There's been no updates prior to the trip who they might be taking along with them....but considering Conrad is participating in the U17, I expect they have Jacques with them to help out on the back end. Depending on the health of Michaud and the involvement of Hughes, we might just have 12 forwards available, so perhaps they brought along either of Rutledge or Nicholson.....we'll likely seen an update on social media later this afternoon.
Game time tonight is 8:00 ADT.

Aksels Ozols gets the nod tonight in goal.
Alexis Michaud will return to the lineup tonight. Michaud had three goals and six assists for nine points in 9 games played before his injury.
Simon Hughes, Sam Bowness and Jarett Todd are still sidelined with injuries while Owen Conrad is with the WU17's

Todd is recovering from a knee injury. He’s had a successful surgery. And is working to get back soon.
I believe Bowness was upper body. Someone can correct me if I’m wrong but he’s been hurt since pre season?
As for Hughes, no one really knows….

No mention of any extra blueliners…..but without Hinkley and Conrad we are down to 5 defencemen.
Hopefully Jacques is with them on the trip. Or maybe this weekend might be a good chance to get a look at Zack Plamondon.
Maybe they get after Edouard Vincent to play, who has seen spot duty the past couple of seasons…..but he is not playing in the Jr. a league in Quebec, but the collegiate league which is not as strong.

Unsure about the situation with Rutledge, Summerside and the Isles.....but they need to figure it out.
He is a QMJHL player....and a strong player.
The Isles benefit with him in the lineup.

Hard to get anything going when you're constantly killing penalties. They have to fix that part of their game.

Olympiques are very weak, the weakest I have seen so far. This was not a good game for the ISLES

Disappointing game I have no idea why Ross Campbell keeps getting first line minutes.. There would not be many players in the league with more playing opportunity than him that is for sure. 1st pp 1st pk, start of period end of period, goalie in goalie out He is a very skilled player and good for him on getting such an opportunity They built their last team around small players and while that didnt work out for them it might work out the next time.

I’m not sure size has anything to do with it…but Ross just has to realize what he’s good at. He’s gotta realize he’s not the guy who can dangle through a 1 on 4, he’s gotta chip it in, throw the body and get under the other teams skin…yes he will definitely chip in offensively, but like most guys, you have to switch up your role when you get to the Q

I may get blasted but…..Saying he’s very skilled is a bit of a stretch. We have maybe 2 players that are ‘very skilled’ as of today. Everyone else would be 4th line on a great team. Couple might slide into the 3rd. Or 2nd - 3rd line pairing on D. In 2 years that’ll be a completely different story with development. I’m not complaining, But that’s how it goes with rebuilding, especially in Jr. It’s a process. Coming from me sitting on my couch, I know it doesn’t mean a whole lot.. 😊
