Gabe Smith returns to the lineup tonight, timely with 3 guys missing. He'll be playing with Sumph & Mercier.
Given that he made the list for the 2024 draft, I'm hoping he can show enough the next 10-20 games to justify making the CHL top prospects game roster. Its an uphill battle, but it'd be very unfortunate to not even have a Moncton player in the game. I'd only like to see him on there though if his play justifies it. Mercier could make just as much of a case, but his size does him no favors and he didn't make the rankings.
This feels like one of the weakest prospect pools in the CHL that I can remember, so if theres a year to make it this is the one.

Especially from playoffs last season unto the first few games this season before his injury. His development will be exciting to watch Very raw talent with a decent hockey IQ and a helluva hard worker and POS to play against. His skills and skating are starting to catch up to his size as well as his confidence. I project at worst a very good 4-5 year player in the Q and at best a late round project NHL draft pick this year who can eventually fill in some bottom 6 in the show

We might have found a real diamond in the rough with Keegan Warren. Drafted in the 14th round. So far he’s been great and only getting better. Having a dependable goalie to take the workload off Steinman is important and was a real question mark going into the season

Obviously, he’s playing mostly bad teams, but he definitely looks competent. Hopefully it allows them to give Steinman a few more breaks this year and keep him fresh.

The way they played defense in that one bad game they would have had a competitive game with the Yarmouth Mariners.

4 points without Loshing and Desnoyers for all 3 games and Morin for 2 is a huge success. Lots of guys stepped up to fill the void like Muller, Sumpf and Lounsbury.
Hopefully get some good news regarding Loshing this week but I doubt it.

so far what I have seen of the wildcats, they have 4 solid lines with speed and balanced scoring, take 1 or 2 away they can still score ( except against the huskies ), The Goaltending has been solid.. to upgrade from steinman ( big fan ) would cost too much if next year is their go for it year. If moncton wants to make a run this year with 1 addition, they should trade for at least 1 top pairing defenceman, a shut down type but go for an 18 year old if there are any up for trade, I would do it asap before prices go up imo.

I'm not sure such a defenceman exists on a team looking to sell. There's a lot of parity this year and I think limited available trade options. Komarov & Higgins (inj?) are the guys I see fitting the need the most but are both 19. Can you flip Glas & a high pick to get Komarov? Komarov has a limited market, although I see Drummondville as a really good fit for him. The lineup has very little room for any additions so it's hard to see a scenario where they add a D without having to subtract off the roster. I just can't see a scenario where Grenier or AGF end up in the stands every night and they would want both as part of the roster next season given you are losing Boutin & Plandowski. I see Sampson & Deslauriers as guys who could be packaged with picks for an 18 year old forward. They aren't getting you an impact guy though. Maybe you can flip a Deslauriers for Patterson in CB to see if you can get him going. I haven't seen Ritchie doing much buying low since he took the job over. Auger is another one who could be moved to a team looking for scoring the next 2 seasons and has limited 19s. I'm just not sure what that trade would look like at this point. Mueller is outplaying him for the 3rd 20 spot in 24/25, but forward depth is one of the reason the Cats sit so high in the standings. In nets you shouldn't need to make any moves. There isn't a guy on the market who I'd trust more than Steinman and Warren might turn out to be one of the best backups in the league.

I thought you had to keep euros a full season before trading them, or has that changed? Of course they could outright release him.

Been that way for a couple of seasons I believe.
