finally back to .500 and Henneberry leads team with 19 goals will we now become buyers ? In light of the current win streak, it is possible that Dwyer could double down and add 1-3 veterans. I would be very shocked if so...and I think even adding that much they'd still likely be behind the other contenders. Our top 6 is pretty solid, but our Depth and D core is lacking. Our goaltending is ok as well but potential to be better behind a better team. buying at .500 wouldn't make too much sense since half this team likely isn't returning next year anyways so we'd be forced into a full scorched earth rebuild if they buy this year.

I get he wants to get the most but he can't be a sitting duck either. If a lot of contenders start to go elsewhere he's gotta pull the trigger. There's lots of forwards on the market.

there's still some decently strong rumors of Arseneault to Rimouski as well. Wondering if that actually happens.
Rimouski would then run with an OA trio of Arseneault, Mathieu, and Miller next season if this comes to fruition. Not a bad group of OA's tbh but not sure it'll be the best in the league for a team hosting the memorial cup.

I prefer coaches who learn from their mistakes and don't repeat them.

with Booth off the table Higgins is still one of the better 19 YO D to go after.
Booth received a top prospect (Lanthier 10th overall), a 2nd, and a 3rd. Booth also signed his ELC so might not be back as an OA next year either.
So what would be a realistic price for Higgins considering he's a 1 and 1/2 year guy.
1st +? I think it'll be close. Rouyn likely still interested.

Dylan Gill also rumored to be out for still a while longer into February. Higgins would be a decent replacement for the time being before becoming their number 3 or 4 guy...

I dont know what the hold up is now. Time to sell while teams are buying hopefully we make atleast 1 trade but wouldn't surprise me if all we see is maddigan to rouyn for a 6th rd.

I think we will move pretty much everyone of value, I think it just comes down to Dwyer holding out for the best value. I just hope he doesn't wait until the last minute on the 6th to get it done though.

Could any of the titan players end up in Cape Breton? I think if it happens it's likely just Orr to replace Shortall. The Eagles need more scoring and Orr likely can be had for like a 2nd + 3rd rounder. I don't think CB pays more than that for an OA and even then might be a stretch. Unless CB wants to go real big and put in an offer for Arseneault + Henneberry and have both return next year. But That's also a bit unlikely as Newcombe + Schmitt are 2 likely locks for OA slots next season. If Rimouski ends up getting Fauchon then I doubt Arseneault ends up there so maybe the Eagles want him as they could use more scoring. but anything can happen.

A 2nd and 3rd for a guy who has been traded 3 time and never been traded that value yet. Every other time he was traded he provided more service time. Here your only getting 30 games and whatever playoffs you get.

I can see Cape going aftyer guys Sly brought in. Maybe Higgins or henneberry but they likely lose those bids to serious teams. As for Orr paying a 2nd isnt out of the question as it is a Cheap upgrade on a 20. Lkely it wont happen because Sly didnt bring him to Bathurst

I don't think it's a question of "losing", it's a question of need and price. Cape does not need Higgins or Henneberry now, a month ago you could argue they did, but with the recent moves, Newcombe's health, their needs have changed. If anything else happens with the forward group, I could see a 19 moving out to get younger, not older. Higgins and Henneberry will both be available next year, cheaper, should the needs change.
