Whoever wins Friday's game in Quebec will likely be the team in the final playoff spot come end of regular season. Big game! 3 games in less than 72 hours will a tough last trip to Quebec.

It would take a small miracle for either Quebec or SJ to pass Gatineau at this point but I'm still hoping for overtime. 🙂

Tough loss in OT. #43 got us there but his two hiccups on last play gave away the game. How the team responds tomorrow and Monday will be telling but I think people are right - it’s time for a coaching change now instead of waiting until summer. Let’s go Dogs!

I have no idea how you blame any of this season on the coaching staff?? If you want to blame someone then look at GM, he brought in Gauthier, who didn't want to be here and left for basically nothing. He brought in Mann, who has underperformed as a "NHL draft pick". Then traded Reinhart for Peddle who has done nothing. Traded Elle, Groulx may eventually work out. The point is the coaches have very little to work with at this point. Players look like they are also tired of losing and can't wait for the season end. Good luck next year!!

I think the coaches and the GM have to be blamed for all of this the players don’t seem to care and when this happens it’s either they lost confidence in the coaching or the organization. Let’s start with the coaching staff, if we look at the games we play we have no system in place except the 1-3-1 that we play even when trailing. We can’t ajust to any other team system. Our last game against Quebec it took them about 3 min to figure out that one of or bigger D had trouble pivoting they were dumping the puck behind him and beating him with speed, that’s coaching we don’t have that. For the GM so far not showing he’s ready for this let’s be honest knowing we had Gatineau’s 1st pick why sending someone there is not very smart that move probably made us lose a very good pick next draft. The Peedle trade let’s he works hard but that’s it I think Reinhart would’ve been a great OA for next season and a good veteran for our young 16-17.

I am not one to jump on coaching or GM as it’s not something I completely understand but we have no system. I watched the game last night and the game against Quebec and I agree we do not know how to adjust. We do the same thing each game and expect it to be better. How are these kids expected to get better when we don’t have a system. The D just dump the puck out and the forwards skate around.

The subjective view of Christmas trades cannot be debated - we lost the majority of our talent and experience. Though a change couldn’t hurt - these are systemic issues that have existed since the start of year. Since start of season - win/loss, time of position, shot differentia, goal differential, have all been skewed one way. The rebuild is stalled as the youth have limited minutes to grow and develop if even with lack of a system that organically fits the team/skill. Today is the end of a challenging 3 in 3 - let’s go Dogs!

I have no way of knowing who is at fault for this year's performance - I have seen many teams who have taken a run at the Memorial Cup that had poor years trying to rebuild. This is the life of Junior Hockey - rebuilding is a fact of life. I also know that winning teams DO Not do so by playing the trap - this is a move that losing teams in the past have tried but with No level of Success. This has been one of the staples of this coaching staff for the past two years. You can bet that this plan would never have been used by Gerard Gallant or Gardiner MacDougall - ever wonder why? I think it is time to re-evaluate our coaching staff.

This team is extremely light on ability to compete. I see two problems. 1 is the utilization of players, which has bothered me all year. The second is some of the decisions themselves made by management. We cut players who are simply better hockey players to give ice time to inferior players (who in some cases aren't QMJHL calibre players right now).

The other thing is... how can you try to coach a "system" when a lot of your players have shown they're incapable of playing within a system? At the end of the day it's just another rebuilding year, surprising that Sea Dogs fans get up in arms about losses when they've been through this so many times. I'm sure Wildcats, Eagles, and Mooseheads fans would love to have 5 championships in the last 13 or 14 seasons

Ultimately your fans should be used to this by now. Since almost day 1 your team has taken the all in approach to trying to win meaning both lengthy rebuilds....and success.
When hosting the Memorial Cup your team traded about as deep as can to try and win. That means a long rebuild. Doesn't matter how much money you throw around if you have no high picks for multiple years.
You smartly cashed out on Burbidge. That certainly was not because there was depth looking for his roster spot. You desperately need those draft picks.

It's an interesting discussion regarding rebuilds. IMO we had a hard working team at Christmas that showed some promise. But then we traded or cut anybody with some value or was deemed too old to get some draft picks and more youth. Clearly it was giving up on the rest of the year for the longer term. I'm still not convinced having young guys play on a bad team helps in any way but others disagree. Also, not sure it was the best decision business wise but that starts the debate as to is being competitive but mediocre every year better or worse than being really good every fifth year?? I fail to understand how any of the results can be blamed on a coach who has no options talent wise. Plus there seems to have been a general disinterest around the team, including from management and that is never good.

I have no issue with a team going through a true rebuild but what I have seen lately is a team that has no system and the more talented players seems to be disinterested. I get nobody wants to loose but I am sure and if you can’t be another team with talent focus on working hard, finishing hits. Make it hard for other teams to play against you.
