Can someone explain to me why Cormier is on the 2nd line and Carrier is on the 3rd?

Maybe a better match up for the kid? They won 6-1, he scored a beauty but let’s not give Lacroix any credit because it was Saint John right?

Cats looked terrible, but SJ looked like a high school team. The Cats have been steadily checking all the boxes of a team poised to be upset in the first round, and I don’t hold much hope for next season either. Add as many guys as you want but with no effort, no accountability, no adjustments they will have no results.
Avenir felt like a funeral parlour tonight. No atmosphere at all. Guess the A-crew is all away for March break.

Can someone explain to me why Cormier is on the 2nd line and Carrier is on the 3rd? My guess is that he wanted his third line to have a more checking/defensive role, and that isn't Cormier's strength. It is not as simple as putting your best six forwards in the top 6. Carrier had a beauty goal last night ... Desnoyers looked good too. Future looks bright.

Guess the A-crew is all away for March break. I'm not sure if this is because we sit in different areas but I thought the atmosphere was above average for a Wednesday night game. In general I find the atmosphere has actually been pretty good this season when the team gives the crowd something worth cheering for. I don't fault the fans for not being loud when the wildcats have laid eggs half the games at home this season. There has been plenty of moments with big crowds this year where you could sense the crowd was ready to explode for a big go ahead of tying goal but the Cats didn't execute. Now the backup announcer was pretty low energy, especially during sea dogs announcements so I'd agree with you there.

Old school tilt late in the game between Mann and Smith ... two big boys throwing bombs at each other, don't see that very often anymore. Hope Smith is OK, he took a couple of heavy shots.

That said, it wouldn't the first time they've looked bad in the second half and then flip the switch and win a round or two in the playoffs. The talent is certainly there that you can't completely rule it out. As a paying fan I honestly feel a bit robbed that Lacroix was brought back this season. Such an incredibly cheap move and I think the Cats could have pushed Halifax right to the end for the division title with someone different behind the bench. I still can't comprehend the rumour that he would have been gone had they lost to Baie-Comeau - they essentially did if not for that very questionable call in overtime. Beyond ridiculous if that saved his job. If he's back again next season then I really don't know what we're even doing here. One of the post-game interviews the Wildcast guys did after the game against Baie-Comeau had one of the players hinting very strongly that they loved not having him behind the bench.

I have previously stated I don't think Lacroix is the man for the job next season, and from what I heard he survived a bit of a player revolt last season by the skin of his teeth ... so I am not in any way surprised or disputing that a player(s) may have hinted they enjoyed him not being available for the B-C game ... but to put it in context - isn't that the game they lost 5-1? If they were so excited to be free of a coach they dislike - wouldn't they have responded to his absence with a strong effort?

To be fair they were playing the best team in the league and didn't have their leading scorer in the line-up. I thought that game was far from their worst effort of the second half despite the score. The next game they were even more shorthanded and I thought it was one of their better efforts on home ice this season. Came out flying and it never really looked like CB was going to get into the game at any point. The players just seemed a lot more engaged than usual.

Plus not having him behind the bench doesn’t change the defensive issues they have in their game plan which got exposed pretty well by the best team in the league, with the effort they had if they capitalized on a few more chances, it’s probably a 5-3/5-4 game
