Positives
Robinson's play The progression of Amyot, MacLean, Duhamel and Richard Miller's play Mateiko taking a step
Meh
Beveridge (inconsistent 16 year-old) Bilodeau (improved skating has him playing better but he hasn't taken a huge leap the 19 year-old D being basically the same Fournier, Elliott (WYSIWYG) Leaver
Not so good Not finding functional roles for Simek or Peddle to maximize their value Beaulieu playing in an offensive role Choosing to play Jr A calibre players (by cutting Pierre-Noel and Akkouche at Christmas)
Hard to evaluate Groulx and Beaudry have some signs that they could contribute, but between ice time and linemates, it is hard to get a good read.
WTF Benoit - he's a decent bottom 6 forward when he plays, so naturally SJ doesn't play him most nights.

For me Positives Both goaltenders have played amazing. Amyot, and Duhamel I think will both be strong D in the coming seasons. They really are not giving Richard a chance to even be seen most nights. MacLean is coming along and steping up a bit more. Very impressed with Miller this season and Mateiko is starting to shine Off the ice I like that the food lines are going easier this season. Making it easier to walk around the building. The concerts are a nice touch. I like that its been a mix of different styles and they seem to get the people in the building.
Meh The other 20s never really stood out to me. Just avg players on the ice. Mann, love his size he just has to use it more. Off the ice. Seadogs styles.... just not very well stocked this year. Very little items to pick from.
Not so good. I hated to see Akkouche go players like Benoit, and Calder who really could play a part as a bottom 6 forward sitting out so many games. Beaulieu on second line does not make sense to me at all. He should be on the 4th Off the ice. Not seeing much of Scott and Trevor this season. Its nice to see them around even in the rebuild years. But not something we see much anymore.

Apparently there was an awards banquet tonight but it wasn’t open to the public. First time I can recall that happening. Have to say, fan engagement is pretty lackluster this season.

Apparently there was an awards banquet tonight but it wasn’t open to the public. First time I can recall that happening. Have to say, fan engagement is pretty lackluster this season. No fans allowed. Announced it was happening 3 hours before and then couldn't even get a stream working. Far cry from the shows at the imperial the last couple seasons. Lackluster is right.

I agree, The season ticket holder bbq was not much to talk about this year. I miss the days of having it at the east end of the rink, Shania and staff knowing who the season ticket holders are. Feeling like you were cared about and part of the family. I never went to the awards but knew people that enjoyed going and being part of a special night with the team. Seeing and talking to the players makes you feel close to them and wanting to cheer them on and see them do well.

How has Elliot been?

About what you expect. He works hard, he plays physical. If he were either the 6th best FW in the top 6 or on the 3rd line, he'd be a spectacular fit on a mid pack team. The problem offensively is that neither Elliott nor Fournier are play drivers offensively so despite more ice-time, they aren't producing more.

My take on the season
Goalies have been good! Robinson will be a stud for the next few years. Playing with Leaver I am sure has helped him prepare to be #1 next year
Defense I like what I have seen from Amyot and Maclean. They are different style but both have improved lots for their first season in the league. I am not sold on Duhamel yet. I am sure I will be next year. He is a good skater but needs to pass the puck more. The three 19 yr olds I am not sure what to tbink Tivey is solid. Ianniello like his speed and offensive but not strong in D. Mann I think overall has been a disappointment. Great size but can’t skate well enough. What do you do as a GM next year with 3 20yr D? Bilodeau not a fan.
Forwards Mateiko is the real deal and will be great Miller needs to get stronger or he won’t make the next step. I like to see peddle play a little more grit. Simek has not impressed me. Beveridge and Groulx should be much better next year. Can’t say anything on Beaudry. Beaulieu should be on 4th line as he has no hands to be in top 6.
What will the team look like next year? Who will be the 20s and will some guys be traded in the summer?

I went back and reviewed the roster from 2014-15 to compare with this year. With the obvious benefit of hindsight that rebuilding team and some serious studs that led to winning in 2017. Frankly, I don't see anybody on this team who will do the same in 2026 or 2027. Major disappointment for me re the degree to which management seems to have cared about the fan base. Everybody understands rebuilding but we dumped anybody with any kind of current talent and purposely got much worse, no fan invites to last night as was mentioned, pricing errors around some of the concert nights (a $28 walk up fee for kids on teddy bear toss night for example), invisibility of the owner or President this year, etc.. Also some "in the room" things I won't get into which maybe happen every year but were disappointing. I think next year is a serious turning point with the building lease being renewed, general economic condition and the fact the on ice product will probably be worse than this year.

I think that's what I feel let down on. I been a fan since season 1. Qver the years we have seen some pretty amazing things, but at the same time some pretty bad seasons. So, I respect that we are having a bad year. Yes there is some moves I do not understand. But honestly, I don't care about the wins I care about the boys trying hard, playing hard, and it being a good game. But I think back on the days you would see Wayne Long at every game shaking hands and knowing people. Shania handing me tickets at the BBQ not even having to ask the name because she knew who almost every ticket holder was. Making announcements on big birthdays for season ticket holders or even a quick moment of silence when a long time member passed. Many of these people have been fans from the start, and many going back from the start of the flames in 93. Little things like more merch in the store. Hoodies, jackets, hats, t-shirts. Look at the store the wildcats have! I don't think they even had the hockey cards the past few seasons. To so many little future hockey players it's something so simple and getting it signed by your hero is a big thing! I did like the coupons for the hot dogs and popcorn etc. this year. Something that really did not cost them anything and it was a nice treat. I did miss the extra tickets to give to friends. Again, something that does not really cost them anything. I missed a nice BBQ at the rink with staff and players not just people at a car dealership parking lot. And again, I never went to the awards but would be nice to make the season ticket holders feel like family again. On the ice I know it's a rebuild and things are going to be hard for a while. Hoping some draft picks this year and help for the future. I think Robinson is going to be great to have for the next few years. I'm excited to see what the plans are for D next season. Maybe we can pick up a star 20 over the summer to help out with some scoring. I'd love to see more of Calder I love how that kid really plays hard. I think Beaudry has a bright future. Beveridge is going to be a star next season. Guess we just have to see how the the rest of this season plays out and what moves they make over the summer.

With the season coming to an end I just wanted to see what peoples take was on it. Tough season, I would say that Stella is out of touch with the fan base. Example, release Cosman for a player (Gauthier) who didn't want to be here. Not saying Cosman was great but its always nice to see local boys play. For the same reason I think Calder should be playing more. Mateiko has really impressed and I'm sure will be traded. Mann was hyped as an NHL draft pick, not sure he could play Jr B. Inconsistent and what appears lazy. Bilodeau major drop off for some reason, his plus minus as well as Ienello is horrible. Tivey was steady and did well. Both goalies were impressive. Can't figure out giving Akkouche away for nothing?? Nice to see Elliott, he always gives 110%. Next year will be even tougher to watch unless major changes are made. Coaches have done a good job with the lineup they have beeen given
