Luciano Ruggiero has been added to the Sea Dogs training camp roster He definitely needed a fresh start. Who knows if he has it in him to be a Q goalie at this point, but for a once highly-touted goaltending prospect he has not had any success in the Q. He was the second goalie taken in the 2022 draft.

Players should be reporting tomorrow Up front, SJ has Peddle and Miller who worked well together last year, Mateiko, Beveridge and then the possibilities of Lavallee and one of Schenk/Allen who could make up the top 6. I could see whichever of the last two who isn't on the 2nd line slotting in on the 3rd line with Yared and Rozzi to start the season. That would bring Reynolds/Dube/Groulx into a 4th line with the latter two likely rotating with the 13/14 guys. On D, I would hope that SJ only keeps 2 OA D, giving them, Bilodeau, Amyot the top 4, with some combination of everything else below that. In nets, Robinson showed some great things last year, but the backup job will play out over camp. Hopefully, someone steps up and SJ doesn't have to go get an OA. Although our top 2 picks from this year draft were high, we can't assume/expect that they will perform right away. If you check 2023 draft top 20 only the top 4 had a great rookie season. I would put at least one of the 2007 guys higher from your 4th. 2007's needs to be ready when we go all in, can't sit on 4th/bench. When we go 2008, will be support in my opinion...my crystal ball could be broken also LOL!! In nets, maybe the ex-Sags goalie will get 2nd spot this season. Any trades expected during camp? Mateiko gone by christmas? What about Peddle? will he get another run with a team going all in?

Yared and Rozzi will get games off, but they should be playing with someone who can provide offense with them. Using numbers on a 3/4 for this team isn't great because if the other line were say Reynolds - Groulx - Dube, then we would roll both a lot. I expect Mateiko to be moved at Christmas. I'm not sure about anyone else, and right now, I would say that deals are unlikely.

I think out of yared and Rozzi one of them hits for sure, Rozzi is different was supposed to be NCAA route for sure thats why teams past on him. i think he can be a 50pt player year 1 aslong as he has someone to pass him the puck.

Desnoyer and Guite got 50+ last season. I don't think that we have that kind of player yet...Actually not sure any top 5 from this year will get 50+ this season...but I sure hope if there is one, he's with SJ! haven't seen Dagenais enough to tell if he's Desnoyer material.

Dagenais is not seen as a Desnoyers-level player. Yared and Rozzi are top 10 picks for a reason and both were likely in SJ's top 5 forwards on their draft board. They will likely play together because they always have and Yared is coming in a lot bigger than most 16s normally do. I think expecting 50 points out of either is a bit much, but they could still be a good depth scoring line at 16.

Desnoyer and Guite are special for sure mind you both players played with elite talent Rozzi may not get that same chance which could put his point totals down. You guys have an elite number 1 here aslong as he is developed properly. I like to look at Phillippe Veilluex kid got 47 pts playing with not a whole lot. i think you can compare him to Rozzi except Rozzi has guys like Peddle and Mateiko as possible suiters. I know you shouldnt compare 16 year olds from past years but its just to show an example. Yarded and Rozzi will be such a threat for years to come.

Richard played a bit of Forward last season . Wonder if he pulls an Akkouche and is moved up front. Richard listed on the forwards for the pre-season roster.

Hopefully everyone has a good camp.
In nets, Saint John has never run with a 16 year-old, so Courchesne is really here as a learning experience. If he has a good camp, he could be recalled for a Quebec trip to be around the team.
Robinson is the returning goalie. He played well last year and hopefully comes into camp full of confidence.
Girard is the other goalie that actually belongs to SJ. He played in the Quebec Jr A circuit where defense seems to be optional. He still put up decent numbers as a 17 year-old and should be a strong candidate for the other spot.
Ruggiero has enormous potential but hasn't been great for Chicoutimi. He's a guy that if he can figure it out, he could be the best of the bunch, but he could also be the worst. At the very least, this is a fresh start with different people trying to work him through what he sees.
Flanagan will be in tough to make it because of his age and that Ruggiero brings more experience while also being younger. Worst case scenario for him is that this is a tuneup for MHL camp that he gets to have at home, but there is a spot that could be won.
On D, We have 4 older D (Ianniello, Tivey, Mann, Bilodeau) where we know what we are getting. Beyond that, hopefully the 16s and 17s have big camps. Depending on how well the young players show, SJ might need to move a D or two.
Up front, SJ has a ton of depth depending on how they pick the team. Based on merit (and assuming that the two loaned players make it), SJ's worst line will likely be better than their 3rd line from last year. The biggest things will be whether the 17s took a leap (because we obviously need that) and what the team does with the last few roster spots.

So since Cameron Chartrand isn't reporting to camp. Does that mean we get a additional 1st round pic next year?
